The general manager who made that deal should never work in the NFL again.

Brett Favre is one of the greatest ever.
That's not arguable.
And that's coming from a BEARS fan.
There goes your one guaranteed home win for next year.... Now what are you going to do :P

Thinking today how fortunate we are to have seen many of the greatest QB's in our life time: no order

Favre
Montana
Marino
Unitas
Elway

and just to p*** off the 49er fans, Dan Fouts! If Fouts had the supporting cast and a DEFENSE, he would have all of Montana's rings !!
got to stop wishin' got to start fishin'....

I'd add Terry Bradshaw, Bart Starr, and Fran Tarkenton to that list as well.
And, what the heck, I'm in a good mood, put Kordell Stewart in that group too.

Now there are reports he may not be done!

Brett Favre's agent, Bus Cook, has told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that Favre wanted to play another year, but that he felt like the Packers didn't want him.
"I know he wants to play one more year," Cook said. "I do not know much conversation there was and I don't think anyone forced him to make that decision. But I don't know that anyone tried to talk him out of it." "I think he wanted to play," Cook said. " I think he's still got it. He knows he's still got it. I think he felt he could play one more year. I don't know if they told him they really wanted him to play. That's just the feeling I got." Asked whether Favre could be talked into returning, Cook said, "I don't know."

There was also talk that he may play for another team, perhaps the Dolphins! Draft Matt Ryan and let him sit back for the year and learn from Farve!

Now that I am home and saw the TV coverage of this. My God  they are treating this like it is a national nightmare.

The greatest thing about Brett is the true JOY he took in playing football! It wasn't just a game for him, or even just a sport, it was an affirming plunge into life each week and for so many years, each game, we looked for that glee, that smile, as if he were a 14 year old who had just thrown his first touchdown pass. It was there at the beginning, it was there at the end, it shall be ever thus. He was the way athletes should be! Sadness is a fall without Brett.

I had a picture of Bart Starr on my bedroom wall as a teenager, next to Neil Armstrong and Paul McCartney. Favre was cut from the same cloth, I'll miss watching him play. Somehow the "Pack" just seemed to get smaller. :(

I can live with those (EXCEPT Kordell), just don't try adding Aikman to the list....he was good a good QB at best in a good system....and really s*cks in his post NFL career on Fox TV

My wife and I have gone to Lambeau field 6 times to see the Packers and #4.
(And we in live in Virginia)
Fortunately we took our 11 year old son this year.
he will always be able to say he saw Brett Favre at Lambeau Field. Good times.

There is a press conference, with Brett, scheduled for noon Eastern time today according to ESPN. I think he's done, but never say never with him. I'm green and gold to the bone. Cheesehead by birth, Parrothead by choice. I've enjoyed the ride since 1992. The man is amazing, but it's time. I lobbied for him to step out three seasons ago when his personal life was beating him down .... his father, his brother in law, his wife and all of the dark cloud that seemed to cover the family for a while. It was tough watching him play through the two years following, but also teriffic to watch him play this season. As far as playing somewhere else, that'll never happen. He knows what kind of an impact (negative) it would have on his legacy. As far as tv time, I don't believe that will happen either. I think he'll be happy just chillin' on his farm in MS. At best, I think you may see him a couple of times per year doing a special similar to Howie Long's "tough guys" and such. He's very down to earth and personable. I could see him doing special interviews or something. I'll never forget the night I saw him play in Lambeau. Was vs. the Vikings in late December and -18 at kick off. Pack won in a last ditch drive in the blowing snow. Ahhhhh memories.

FINS UP Brett!
