Tim Krekel on NPR

Post by conched »

Tim Krekel, who has played with J. B. plays some stuff live on NPR. I have always enjoyed listening to Tim Krekel. When I first started going to see Buffett in the 90s, Tim Krekel and Marshall Chapman opened for Jimmy.

World Cafe, February 28, 2008 - Country-rock singer Tim Krekel uses music as a means of paying tribute to life, love, and especially rock 'n' roll. Born in Louisville, Krekel got his start in music at an early age, breaking into the record industry in the '70s as a guitarist in Jimmy Buffett's band. Krekel's first solo album, Crazy Me, followed in 1979.

In 1993, Krekel started a new band, The Groovebillys, which quickly became a Louisville staple while also developing a national audience. Now recording as leader of Tim Krekel Orchestra, he released Soul Season last fall. In this segment, Krekel talks about the bands he's led and discusses the inspiration behind the song "Wilson Pickett."

Another Buffett alum, Buzz Cason, has also been in the news lately with a new album out called Hats Off to Hank.
