Buddy Pass

Post by ohmyhell »

Phins up! My new Scion is pretty sweet for a dainty and gutless vehicle. So has anyone here ever flown on a buddy pass before?

I'm not sure what a buddy pass has to do with scion.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.

do you need to own one to take it flying, or can you just be using a buddy pass?

The only connection is that I acquired both of them this week. I was curious about the buddy pass because my friend is using one to join me in Alabama in 2 weeks.

Got it> Congrats on the new car. The buddy pass is pretty much just a regular ticket, the only catch being is if the flight is oversold, they get bumped automatically I believe.

depending on the airline, there are specific rules. Dress like staff (ie better than jeans, tshirts, and flipflops), show up x # of minutes ahead of time with the understanding that if you do not, you will get bumped. Revenue passengers take precedence over pass-using passengers. Bring a book or two, just in case.

nice thing is, if you get stuck in say Columbus, and you are trying to get to one hub, see if the gate agent can work a different route to get you to your final destination. (last year, using one and being slotted to fly from CMH-IAH-MOB, ended up rerouting to CMH-CLE-IAH-... and then catching a ride with KK to Stars because it looked like I was going to get bumped off the last flight of the night from IAH to Mobile).

Be flexible, be patient, and be willing to try alternatives.

My GenY-to-English dictionary comment was meant to be a joke. I didn't mean to insult you and didn't realize English was not your first language. Hope you understand. Thanks! And good luck with the buddy pass and meeting your friend in Alabama.

ohmyhell is a guy, who, I might add, usually shows up at at least one of the Vegas shows with a group of fine looking young ladies. He's my hero.

I grew up using "buddy passes" for flights , being the son of an airline employee.
While I was able to travel throughout the western world with this perk,
I also slept in a lot of airports after getting "bumped" trying to get on so many flights to popular destinations.
Hopefully, your destination to Alabama (not exactly a red hot tourist destination) may ease the wait for an open flight.

Like it was pointed out earlier, you've got to dress to impress.
It's just one the hoops you've got to jump thru for flying for next to nothing.
Get to the counter 90 minutes early to get on the standby list, and be sure to be eager when you present yourself at the gate.
It CAN come down to simply whether or not they like you!

If you're real cool about it, you might even get bumped into First Class!! :P :P :P
$#@&...only Vegas again?? Padres ...gotta start believin'!Bring on '14 Spring Training!

No worries! I was joking around too! In theory English is my 2nd language, but I've been a resident of the US of A since I was one! I don't think you have to worry about insulting me. I'm quite laid back and full of insults myself! Thanks PackPhanGirl! I also like your name! Down with the heels! A couple of my friends went to UNC and I always give them crap about it! Yay for Valvano!
