Just in case the folks around the Raleigh/Goldsboro/New Bern/Fayetteville general area haven't heard:
94.7 WQDR is giving away tickets all day tomorrow (19th). Have to be caller 9 when they play "5'oclock Somewhere". I believe their phone number is 919-860-9470, or 1-800-233-9470.
95.7 WKML is also giving away tickets to the 25th caller every time "5'oclock Somewhere" is played (between 6am and 6pm). Phone number is 919-323-9570. I got an email from them this afternoon.
I realize I lessen my chances of winning, but if someone from here wins them I won't feel as bad

From the venue general information:
Tailgating / Alcohol in the Parking Lot
-There is a City of Raleigh open container ordinance that is in effect in all parking lots.
-This City ordinance specifically prohibits open containers of beer or wine.
-The State of North Carolina laws also restrict open consumption of liquor of any kind.
-Officers from the Raleigh Police Department, Wake County and State of North Carolina Alcohol Beverage Commissions regularly patrol parking lots.
-Walnut Creek Amphitheatre welcomes fans who want to picnic before shows; however, cars must occupy only one parking space. Grills are not permitted on sidewalks, in roadways, near buildings or in any area where guests or property may be damaged.
-Glass bottles are also discouraged.
So, is the "no alcohol" policy really enforced? That is what always bothers me about these Live Nation venues. They all have roughly the same rules but they are vigorously enforced some venues and totally ignored at others.

Last time I was there for Buffett (2001?) It was pretty laid back as far as enforcement. I don't remember any cops thoughout the tailgate areas. Just doing traffic.
Keep it in a cup and you should be fine!

Around this time of year, everyone always gets worried about being able to tailgate, grill out, and drink at any of these venues. I know the rules apply for most other acts, but they are relaxed at a Buffett show. Never have I had any problem tailgating at any venue. The strictest it got was I had to put my beer in a plastic cup. That's a rule I can live with.

We were just in downtown Raleigh for the St Patrick's Day parade w/the local PHC and we were ALL drinking in the parking lot where the floats were lining up. The liquor bottles were lined up on someone's tailgate. Policemen, firemen, city officials all walked by us and no one said a thing. SOMEONE even opened a beer while we were walking down the street during the parade but he did pour it into a cup. I just think if you use common sense, pour into cups, take care of your trash, etc. everything will be fine.squeakydeke wrote:From the venue general information:
