No...if he were a Republican, all of the Republicans would be saying "Aw, this isn't so bad" rather than calling for his resignation and/or impeachment.Wino you know wrote:If he's supporting Hillary, this will only increase her chances for the nomination and to be <strike>elected</strike> coronated.
As I said, it's not as if he were a Republican.
And no doubt many of those have their own closet skeletons; they just haven't been caught yet.

Near the top I'd place subverting the constitution, 'misleading' the nation into an unnecessary and ill-conceived military adventure in Iraq, abuse of the public purse . . . I could go on but you get the idea . . .
So by all means, if the Republicans and their friends in NY state can make a just and successful case for impeachment (although I think it's a little over the top at this point
But if anyone is truly in an impeachment mood, they should start with the 43rd (and current) President of the United States. The case would be easy to make: most of it is already in the public record or could be dug out (except for missing emails/ erased tapes/lost files - hey sounds like 'Watergate' all over), but the people who would have to make the case for impeachment want to win the White House later this year.
Otherwise 'you-know-who' would have been gone some time ago . . .

It would be so nice if just once, just once, when your guy got caught do something wrong, we didnt have to resort to the good old playground standard of " yeah well your guy is worser!! "

No he didn't. What he did was threaten, browbeat and intimidate his targets into settling out of court to avoid the time and expense of a trial. When people stood up to him, defended themselves and fought him in court, the overwhelming majority of them won. His record was nowhere near as good as his press releases would lead you to believe.flyboy55 wrote:Spitzer did a lot of good work in prosecuting corruption. . .

actually the calls for Spitzer to resign were coming from both parties. The funny thing is if you watch the news coverage, you'd never know what Spitzer's party affiliation is even though he is a big enough D to be one of those SUPERDELEGATES
I hardly think that would be the case if he had an R behind his name
oh yeah, this guy should definitely be able to cancel out 1000s of votes from regular democrat voters - hardly seems "democratic" does it
I'll take the one person one vote version any day!

I'm not a resident of NY so I do not believe I have a say in whether he should stay or go. That is up to the people that voted for and put their trust in him.
Being that he was an agressive prosecutor and had many political enemies, he should have known better than to commit the same crime that he went after many others for. He does have problems with that money laundering and RICO stuff. I could care less about the hooker thing except it makes for fun news.
My recommendation to him is to claim addiction and go straight to rehab. I also think it was in poor taste to make his announcement with his wife at his side.

I'm not defending Spitzer. He's not 'my guy'. I hold myself to a much higher standard of behavior (apparently) than many politicians of both parties.Hooray Beer! wrote:I say this to both sides of the political fenceflyboy55 wrote:Near the bottom.rumdrinks wrote:Sooo, where does sex with a very hig-priced hooker fall in the "most heinous crime list"?flyboy55 wrote:I believe all politicians who are guilty of impeachable offenses should be impeached.

Somebody else brought up the subject of impeachment. I just think if impeachment is on somebody's mind, the logical targets would be the top two guys in the current administration. We could always work our way around to Spitzer later if need be.
Let the process begin . . .

Hey keep up with current events. I haven't slammed 'the pres' in a long time. There are good people here, though, who never (and I mean NEVER) bring up the names of certain Democratic politicians without using extremely derogatory and abusive terminology that wouldn't make it past the forum censor if it wasn't purposely misspelled.kitty wrote:Man...you don't miss a chance to slam the pres or bring up your views on the war, do you??flyboy55 wrote:Near the bottom.

you've gotta love New Yorkers - they waste NO time in capitalizing on the really bad judgment of others

Hey at least they're made in the USA!
this is a link to my favorite "Witness for the Prostitution"

I don't think anyone in New York actually liked this guy; feared him maybe but there's no love loss here. There was even speculation that the stock market rally yesterday was linked to Spitzer going down no pun intended, well maybe

Why does it all have to be about the law? What about his marriage?
Do you think this chick is going to "stand by her man?"
The fact that anyone is making this about political affiliation is ridiculous.
What happen to morals?

My husband and I were talking this morning and he said "this guys life, both personal and private, are destroyed...they are over!"
I had to disagree...look at Clinton?? He took advantage of a young girl, and now he is being paid thousands of dollars for giving speeches! His connection to his wife seems to have no bearing on public opinion...
The American public is either very forgiving, or doesn't give a damn about morals!
At least Spitzer paid for his sex with a professional instead of "raping" a young girl who looked up to him.
