Back in the pre-internet days, when the Grateful Dead were still the Grateful Dead, they had a hotline you could call that had a prerecorded message that would tell you exactly when the "mail order" would be available. there were very strict rules (stamps only, no meters, on the return envelope, couldn't be postmarked before the specified date, only one request per address-if you sent in more than one, they all got tossed) and they would give specific p.o.boxes for each concert. It was great. every time I mail ordered, I got tickets. I'm not so naive that something like that could work again; the scale of it alone would be huge, but it's nice to think about.

I'll take the six in the front.
You get three I get three. deal?
hmmm....I really only need two. I wonder if people would have a problem if I sold the rest to cover my tickets? :pirate:

There is a problem with non fans buying and selling tickets with no interest in going to the show. Every year I sit at my pc to try and get the best Tickets (reserved) for Alpine when they go on sale, I end up buying multiple tix in the process of of just trying to get 2 together so I can enjoy a reserved seat with my best friend. I pass the left over tickets on to others at my cost. Last year I sold a front row seat (Row A3)at face value to a Parrott Head club member not for profit but for the fact I had to buy numerous tickets to get 2 together be it that they were in row b and c one in front of the other not side by side. I do not consider myself a scalper even if I sell at face value. I just wish there was a way to verify when you are purchasing tickets that you will be attending the show, then I would not have to jump through so many hoops to get tickets for my Buffett buddie and me!

Did you ever notice that when you go to buy tickets, like this week for Citizens Bank Park, there is a six ticket limit. Then you go to a ticket agency and the have blocks of tickets.

On the Stones 40 Licks Tour we had over a hundred seats together in the 17th - 19th row. BEFORE the tickets even went on sale! We had 3 bus loads of people. Nice when it's to your benefit but when your online or on line it's just anothr scam that keeps you from seats you want.

The promoters are just as guilty as the scalpers and brokers. Nothing will ever change. We will be having this same conversation 10 - 20 yrs from now...

I've ended up with extra tickets in the past because of people who said they wanted to go and then when presented with the bill for the ticket said "Oh you got me a ticket?? Gee we realized we have something else that day" I've always, always sold them for face.
I'm trying to find 4 lawn seats for GW fpr some friends who got shut out and it's painful looking at what the going rate is.
How about the guy that is asking 10,000 for a lawn seat at Alpine on stubhub!!

There's a special place in hell for these people I swear.
My friends ended up having to pay $100 each because they want to be SURE they have tickets. Makes all of us too nervous to wait it out. And yes, I know, we're perpetuating the problem, but when long term arrangements have to be made to spend the weekend somewhere you don't want to chance getting there and not being able to get in. Some of y'all have more nerve than I do to wait. I lucked out this time and got a great seat at face because I got in at 10:01.

If you were a true Buffett fan you wouldn't care what the price was.

If I hadn't been told about this BN and getting tickets at face
I would not have gotten extra's for family members to join the
tailgate party and see Buffet for the fist time some of them in
Frisco Tx.
Glad some people choose not to sell on ebay.

That sounds nice in theory.
Not everybody has a pile of money they can spend on tickets.

Ticket Prices

Post by ParrotheadPeteNJ »

And to add to Beachbum ticket prices have skyrocketed. Most shows are now over $100 per for an average ticket.
