Kenny Chesney sells a Jimmy Buffett "A1A" type ethos and repackages it as slick sounding, banal crap that sells best to fraternity boys.

Those fraternity boys hear Jimmy Buffett mentioned in one of Chesney's earliest "beach songs" and then buy tickets to see Buffett.

They bring a very unpleasant "party til you puke" attitude to Jimmy shows and are there 100% for the party. Having these a$$holes talk their way through songs like "Cowboy in the Jungle" because they don't know any song that isn't on the Yellow Album or License to Chill, is most unpleasant.

Kenny Chesney is tiresome. I'd have no issue with him except that his frat boy fans do tend to show up at Buffett shows and they just don't get it because, to quote another loathesome country star "they're just there for the party.".

In Cincinnati, one of these frat rats gunned their car ahead of 50 others that were in line to get out and then forced his way into traffic at the driveway. At the same show, I saw 2 frat rats get in a fight in the lot. Add to that the idiots who decided that it would be hilarious to shove some of the thousands of thrown out beer bottles under the tires of numerous cars. How funny - cause someone to get a flat on their way out of the lot! Crap like that NEVER used to happen at Jimmy's shows.

That's at least why I don't like what Chesney means for Jimmy Buffett fans. He is a Buffett plagiarist and his fans are largely dolts.
Oh my god sorry but that is some really bad info. Frat Boys are the only people who cut in car lines? Frat boys who show up at Buffett are there because they are chesney fans???
:D
What were all the frat boys at buffett during the 80's doing when chesney wasnt even out of College yet???? They must've time traveled from the "lost" island to get there.

See Eric Cartman.............

MSU,

You asked "How's living in a dry city going?" Grand Haven has plenty of bars and restaurants as well as alcohol is freely available at the local stores. Not sure where you got your info that Grand Haven is a "dry city"?

How's rootin for MSU workin out for you? Nice choke job on Saturday. That's OK. If MSU doesn't make it to the Sweet 16, that dramatically cuts down on the chance of student riots (speaking of out of control frat rats).

There's always football season...Well...Nevermind...

And in 10 years of going to Buffett shows, from Pine Knob to Anguilla, I've NEVER seen a fight or even really rude behavior - until the 5 O'Clock Somewhere/Chesney type fans jumped on the bandwagon.
I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.

I have no opinion on Chesney one way or the other, I don't know enough of his music. But from reading some of the comments here you would think Buffett is the only one allowed to play that type of music. I'm no musical historian but I'd be willing to bet Jimmy Buffett wasn't the first person to play that type of music. Why should he be the last?

Wow! Sounds like you lost your childhood love to a "Frat Boy" and that you have some vendetta working!!! KC has a millions of fans and for some reason I don't think they are all frat boys!
He is a Buffett plagiarist and his fans are largely dolts.
Everybody is stealing from somebody!!! Buffett is not the first person to sing about the beach, boats, summer and so on.
They bring a very unpleasant "party til you puke" attitude to Jimmy shows and are there 100% for the party.
There has always been that element at Buffett shows. Then they get older and become "us". And there is that element at many shows to some extent.
I'd have no issue with him except that his frat boy fans do tend to show up at Buffett shows and they just don't get it because, to quote another loathsome country star "they're just there for the party.".
I used to feel that way! I would go to shows and see BMWs and Volvos with their "landlocked" license plates. Take their suits off in the parking lot's and change into "Buffett-ware" and get all wasted. I would think to myself what do they know about it? They come to the Jersey Shore for a week and head south for a week or two in the winter and they are experts??? I live on a sandbar man. JB is my "patron saint" not yours. Some sort of musical entitlement!!!

Then I was at a show with a friend from Florida and he threw the same logic at me. "What do you know? You grew up in friggin' NJ!!! How many palm trees do you have? When was the last time you had a conch fritter?" I got his point. It's not so much about where your from as much as it where you wish you could be. I think the true measure of a "parrot head" could be, Do you wish you were JB or someone who leads a similar "tropical" lifestyle.

In Cincinnati, one of these frat rats gunned their car ahead of 50 others that were in line to get out and then forced his way into traffic at the driveway.
Standard butt-head driving in NE!!! This happens everywhere! Mall, McDonalds, youth soccer games....
Add to that the idiots who decided that it w ould be hilarious to shove some of the thousands of thrown out beer bottles under the tires of numerous cars. How funny - cause someone to get a flat on their way out of the lot! Crap like that NEVER used to happen at Jimmy's shows.

The only people who do stupid stuff are "frat rats"? You never did anything when you were learning to drink that you would shake you head at today if you saw somebody else do it???

Wow sound like you lost your childhood love to a "Frat Boy" and that you have some vendetta working!!! KC has a millions of fans and for some reason I don't think they are all frat boys!
At the same show, I saw 2 frat rats get in a fight in the lot.
Years ago I saw two women fight at a show at the Garden State Arts Center. Very entertaining! But out of place....

Everybdoy has the right to like and dislike anybody they want I just think some of the reason are misplaced and laughable!!!
