I think Victoria's markets to a lot of men so they go in and buy expensive lingerie for their girlfriends/wives.Barefoot Gypsy wrote:As my 17 year old son and I watched tv a lovely victoria's secret commercial came on. This spurred me to think. In all my years I have yet to see a bra commercial and have that lead me to that purchase. And on top of this, why do we only see the best bodies in all the commercials? The ones featuring women at least. When was the last time you saw an average size lady do a bra commercial? We need some love to. So, he and I were talking about the whole commercial concept and we were thinkin'...KY...another thing.....do we really need these commercials? Who is the competition for K-Y?! Can't say I know of one. Also, the herpes meds. Why does everyone seem so happy and okay that they have herpes? My son has pondered this many times. He says it is like saying..."Herpes? No prob. Here's some meds....go for it".
So, I guess my question would be.....
How many commercials actually get you to the store? With tivo how many do you even watch?
Study came out yesterday saying 1 in 4 teenage girls in the US has a Sexually Transmitted Disease. I think Herpes was number one on the list. I am guessing there are more people paying attention to those adds than we realize!
As far as the lube go into an adult store some day. Lots of competition.

NO. the study was that 1 in 4 has a STD OR a STI (sexually transmitted infection) You can have an infecxtion without it being a disease...big difference..... and Herpes was not the #1.....Afternoon Golfer wrote:I think Victoria's markets to a lot of men so they go in and buy expensive lingerie for their girlfriends/wives.Barefoot Gypsy wrote:As my 17 year old son and I watched tv a lovely victoria's secret commercial came on. I think HPV is the one linked to cervical cancer and they are trying to make the vaccination widely available to teenage girls, since in their lifetimes they will be significantly at risk for cervical cancer . . . The idea of routinely vaccinating teen girls against HPV is meeting resistance in some quarters . . .TUESDAY, March 11 (HealthDay News) -- More than 3 million teenaged girls have at least one sexually transmitted disease (STD), a new government study suggests.
The most severely affected are African-American teens. In fact, 48 percent of African-American teenaged girls have an STD, compared with 20 percent of white teenaged girls.
"What we found is alarming," Dr. Sara Forhan, from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said during a teleconference Tuesday. "One in four female adolescents in the U.S. has at least one of the four most common STDs that affects women."
"These numbers translate into 3.2 million young women nationwide who are infected with an STD," Forhan said. "This means that far too many young women are at risk of the serious health effects of untreated STDs, including infertility and cervical cancer."
These common STDs include human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, herpes simplex virus and trichomoniasis, Forhan said.

Correct and as a carrier of the HPV virus and having gone through the gament of problems in my early 20's (especially when not information was known about it) I for one want my girls to have the vaccine. Not to mention at any given moment, even though the virus may be dorment, I am highly at risk for cervical cancer. Controversial or not, if I can help them avoid the unnecessary trips to the GYN/Hospital I will do my part.flyboy55 wrote:I think HPV is the one linked to cervical cancer and they are trying to make the vaccination widely available to teenage girls, since in their lifetimes they will be significantly at risk for cervical cancer . . .
