Bra buying

As my 17 year old son and I watched tv a lovely victoria's secret commercial came on. This spurred me to think. In all my years I have yet to see a bra commercial and have that lead me to that purchase. And on top of this, why do we only see the best bodies in all the commercials? The ones featuring women at least. When was the last time you saw an average size lady do a bra commercial? We need some love to. So, he and I were talking about the whole commercial concept and we were thinkin'...KY...another thing.....do we really need these commercials? Who is the competition for K-Y?! Can't say I know of one. Also, the herpes meds. Why does everyone seem so happy and okay that they have herpes? My son has pondered this many times. He says it is like saying..."Herpes? No prob. Here's some meds....go for it".

So, I guess my question would be.....

How many commercials actually get you to the store? With tivo how many do you even watch?

With my DVR....I watch ZERO commercials.....

There have been a few things that have piqued my interest on a commercial....nothing that comes straight to mind, though!

.....and I do have to admit that I want to try one of the VS Biolift bras....

I actually really like the Michael Jordan Hanes commercial.....

"Hey, Michael, I'm wearing your underwear".....funny, every time.

I agree...it's like the telemarketers...I have never once gotten a call to clean my chimney or reside my house and said "oh, thank God you finally called...I've been wanting my chimney cleaned for months!"

Same with tampon and other femine product adds....do advertisers think we actually beleive we can have a "happy period"?? :-?

feh. I have wondered why we need half the commercials we have, especially now that reality TV has supposedly dropped the price of programming.

and for the person asking for a jock-strap commercial, keep this in mind: it is perfectly ok in this world to show a guy, shirtless, as long as he is ripped and construction-worker-ish. shirtless and babe-like? no joy. and not every construction worker is young, tanned, and toned..

show the ones with the grizzled back hair and the man-boobs if you are going for reality.

The only time they show them is on Alka Seltzer commerials and other "stomach problem" commercials..

those are also the ones you need for underwear commercials.. some guy with 20 years in on the job, stumbling toward his first cup of coffee in the morning, furry-tongued, blurry-eyed, scratching, and wearing boxers with big pink whales on them...

The only product I ever purchased because of a commercial was the 4C Iced tea, bread crumbs and grated parmesan cheese. Somehow that official product of the Davis family caught me.

this really torques me too. makes me crazy that they show happy kissing couples blah blah and it's all glorified and chit. that's just insane-- it ain't cool. a number of commercials glorify things that really shouldn't be-- like the VS ads-- does any woman regardless of age need to feel that badly about her bras?

They don't advertise the bras I need in TV. Hell, they don't even sell them in mainstream stores. I have to go to a boutique or order them online at around $80-$100 a pop. :-?

I've never heard of this Biolift bra. But I am a huge fan of their Secret Embrace bras. They're pretty and comfortable with no seams so they don't show under your clothes.

And now that I sound like a commercial myself I'll get out of this thread [smilie=battingeyes.gif]
