She's in Florida - they have the castle doctrine or something like that which basically says if you've got a carry permit you can carry anywhere and the use of deadly force is not only applicable in your home but also in your car.

In Texas you don't even need a carry permit if you're traveling more than 2 counties away from your home going to and from your home. I love Texas. Image
BTW.. In Texas now you can fire if you are protecting Property...

you could always fire if protecting property however it was best if you waited until they actually got in the house. I do know of several cases where people were caught steeling property outside the home, ie from a car and were shot and the homeowner eventually cleared.
In California we hafta shoot'em at the doorstep then drag'em inside b4 calling authorities.
I knew someone who got off killing a person they were mad at because the blood splatter was on the inside door frame :-? Everyone knew they had been feuding and rumor was that the dead person was going over there to mend things.
