Nope, I'm just not mean enough to reply to that.
I'm not sure what you mean by stooping to MY level.
I posted lyrics to a Dire Straits song that pokes fun at the "rigors" of being a musician.
And you earlier stated, "We should all be lucky enough!' regarding JB's work schedule. Wouldn't becoming a musician make you lucky enough?

I don't get your snippy little comments. Maybe I should .....????
Maybe I should what? Apparently you intended to say something mean.
I wasn't mean and I certainly didn't stoop to any "level".
We can disagree on the subject but I don't think the "attitude" is necessary.
You are 100% right!!!!

You should lose the attitude.

Sounded like you were insinuating that if I became a musician than I could yield lots of money and work very little.

Nice way to quote a song to cover your true feelings.

I'm logging out in a second and will not return and neither will (my) Mick The Pirate who everyone is all too happy to get pre-tour info from regarding dates and passwords.

Actually they do. The price they are priced right now is very close to the the point where the supply/demand curves meet. Back in the good old days I was able to buy $65 pavilion seats and sell them on ebay for $125-150. Shows sold out quickly and the evil brokers profited on the under pricing of tickets. Now at $130+, tickets are not selling as quickly but still selling out and the "true" fans are able to get tickets without the evil brokers profiting. Touring is expensive and I strongly doubt that after all expenses and salaries are paid that there is much profit in this or any other tour.
Actually they do not!

& there are many tours and/or musicians that do not have JB ticket prices.

Jack Johnson has much cheaper tickets.

Now I know Jack Johnson is no JB, it is like apples and oranges......

But I work in the music industry and you are quite simply incorrect about how the finances work.

& the dynamics of how the supply/demand curve actually works.

JB tickets are over priced and as long as people pay for them, they will most probably remain that way.

Unless JB makes a monumental move to lower ticket prices.

Sporting events are equally overpriced as i posted previously.

And as a last note, JB again is not the only individual conducting business this way.

Just look at how some bands are now incorporating VIP packages into their ticket sales.

Ozzy Osbourne, Sammy Hagar, The Eagles, just to name a few.

For a mere $250 - $1000 you can reserve a seat in the first 15 rows of concerts.

Greedy, greedy, greedy.

& if people did not want to buy these packages they wouldn't exist.

But people do buy these expensive tickets and VIP packages and thus, the cycle goes round and round with no end in sight.

It comes down to choice.

If you think tickets are overpriced, then don't buy them.

That's all there is to it!

Then maybe ticket prices would come down.
Gypsie Girl,

I for one am glad you and Mick have been around here lately;
Welcome to BN

what I don't understand is the anger/defensiveness in many of your posts

sure there are some (over)opinionated pholks around here, but we all care about Buffett's music and look forward to the next chance to hear it

I will defer to your knowledge of the music industry, but respectfully disagree with your interpretation of supply and demand.
If the demand supports $150 tickets and $1000 VIP packages, that is what they will sell for.
I would rather the entertainer see the benefit rather than scalpers make the extra money.
It was nice coming back for a minute, but (my) Mick The Pirate is right.

The phlock here at BN has changed and not for the better.

& again, I agree that as long as people are willing to pay the high prices for tickets and VIP packages, prices will remain high.

& would rather see the artist/entertainer get the money for their work than a scalper any day of the week.

As is, Mick's dad just had emergency open heart double-bypass and we will be leaving for Arizona tonight.

So it looks like we have JB tickets we will not be able to use and have to sell.

To all the wonderful members of the BN nation, I'll miss you.

Good thing you are not betting! Everyone on stage with JB makes very nice $$$$.

As for who makes more on the BN board............

There is a huge difference with how much money one makes/earns and what they have to do to make/earn their money and how long and stressful one's job is to accomplish making their income.

JB and the guys and reeferettes have very little stress, travel in style and only have to work approx 30 days a year.

And maybe 3-4 hours a day.

Work 3-4 hours a day for one month per year, with very little stress and traveling in style with good food..........

We should all be lucky enough!
i'm going to side with Matt on this one!!!....not sure about 50% ...but i'd bet it's a high number!!

Of course we all deserve to get paid for our work.
All I was saying is that JB could easily afford to lower the ticket prices or even throw us a free tour and still have millions left over.
Exactly how do you know what Jimmy needs financially? Why is it so wrong to make money? He does a fair amount of spending it, as well.
Personally I don't think any of us has a clue as to his finances, and I'd never presume to think he doesn't need money.
If you are in Forbes top 500 list of wealthiest people.....

I'm willing to bet you do not need more money.

Making money is great, especially when you actually earn it with hard work.

Not saying JB doesn't work hard.

But I'd speculate that the majority of people here on BN come home tired and sweaty and dirty and stressed out and beat in comparison to JB.

I now see why (my) Mick The Pirate said not to post anything here anymore as the BN crowd has changed and not for the better.

He was right.

Doesn't matter much anyway as his father just had emergency open-heart double bypass surgery and we are leaving for Arizona tonight.

so looks like we will have JB tickets we can't use and will have to get rid of.

To all the great people and friends I've made through BN, I'll miss you!

GG Phin power for your FIL! I hope his surgery goes well.

I think you judge the BN folks a little too harshly. You'll never find a more supportive, friendly group of people.

Everyone Breathe In , Breathe Out, and Relax!

It wouldn't be late winter/early spring if threads like this didn't arise.

Remember this, we ALL love Jimmy and His Music!

We ALL would like to see Jimmy as many times as we are able.

We ALL have to deal with our personal situations, what ever that is, a lot of money, not enough, too much Tequilla or not enough, etc, etc, etc!

Jimmy gives back in different ways to his Fans. Free show aren't his way, YET!

Remember, that we ALL share something here besides Jimmy! We All share BN's!

But just like loving your Family, you don't always like or agree with them!

PHINS UP......WAY UP!
BUFFETTING: The act of leaving reality and going off to see Jimmy Buffett!

Mr. Webster, we have a NEW definition!

First you said they were rich. They're not all rich, end of story.

Now you say well off, which is subjective (as is rich, I suppose... in this country, I'm nowhere near rich, but to the average Haitian I'm a tycoon).

The members of the band are not all making a killing financially..... that's just how it is.....

if we disagree on that, so be it......
