I named my dog after the island and want to go someday. Anyone ever been?
I want to fly directly to Bimini from florida. No boats, I get seasick. I want to just stay on that island. I don't need alot of nightlife, etc. I stayed in Grenada for 2 weeks and was perfectly content going to the beach every day and relaxing at night. If I can get accomodations, I'd consider taking my dog too.
thanks!

Bimini Info
Seems nobody has answered you so if you are still monitoring, I wanted to add a little info.
Its been a while since I've been out to Bimini but had a great time. Chalk's no longer flys the Grumman Seaplane out there - too bad you missed it, what an expereience. There are other flights, Continental/Gulfstream has scheduled service as well as http://flyyellowairtaxi.com/ .
I haven't been there since the Compleat Angler burned down but there was plenty of exploring to do. A kayak or boat ride out into the Mangroves is fun. The fishing and diving are great. Stay on the east side for beaches, the WEst beach is pretty but in the lee and so mosquitos will carry you away.
We stayed at Bimini Big Game Club http://biminibiggame.com/index.php
Hope you can make the trip.

Was recently speaking to a friend who used to own a dive operation off from Andros Island and used to take divers to Bimini. She told me that Bimini is going down hill. People have been building McMansions, and their plumbing dumps right into the ocean, and it's eroding the coast and destroying the reefs.
Just what I heard.

A serious problem throughout our Caribbean. That's why we're here... Jimmy designs wastewater treatment systems for the islands, in the hope in future that this pollution can end, and maybe, maybe, 50-100 years after that, the reefs and keys will recover. It will be long after we're gone, it's just for the future.

I was shocked to learn that most of the boats in the islands don't even have holding tanks, everything just dumps right into the water.C-Dawg wrote:Was recently speaking to a friend who used to own a dive operation off from Andros Island and used to take divers to Bimini.
