And what Abigale went through. She was a tough woman. I really admire her.Tequila Revenge wrote:Don't get HBO at home, but stayed up way to late watching it in San Diego last week on business. Jefferson was only 33 when he wrote the DeclarationAmazing look at our history!!

I read the book a while ago and was really looking forward to it. I think it's very well done. Haven't watched Part II though, it's been on pretty late, hope to catch it on a weekend at some point and watch it all the way through.

We haven't been able to catch a single bit of it
but will have to down the road. Sounds like "they" did a really good job.
It was really cool when Tom Hanks was here in Richmond for the Red Carpet premier. The weather was AWFUL, and from all reports he couldn't have been "cooler" about the conditions. He even made a joke about it in a short speech he gave prior the premier.

I know. 14 years of marriage alone, farming and raising kids while John was starting a country and traveling to France.blackjacks wife wrote:And what Abigale went through. She was a tough woman. aaah thanks, BlkJsW, Don't Tread on Me is the 3rd one, we watched both pt. 1 and pt. 2 Sunday night.blackjacks wife wrote:Moonie,
The 2nd installment ran back to back on Sunday. Check your HBO schedule to see if you can catch Independence before tomorrow's third installment.
I've been catching The Revolution on the History Channel on Saturdays, also.
Why didn't I find American History this exciting when I was in High School?

I was thinking the same thing, I think our perspective changes, plus the distraction of "cute boys" in the class is gone!
Words in a book are never as compelling as seeing it anyway. I was fascinated by Gettysburg once I actually went there and saw it all.

I read a lot fiction about the Civil War and the Revolutionary War, during High School. Found the actual history, at that time.....boring? Must have been the social aspects that had my attention.ScarletB wrote:Moonie wrote:aaah thanks, BlkJsW, Don't Tread on Me is the 3rd one, we watched both pt. 1 and pt. 2 Sunday night.blackjacks wife wrote:Moonie,

I have, over the years, read as much non-fiction as I possibly could about the Civil War, not so much the Revolutionary Way. This series on HBO is a very fair depiction and follows closely with the segments from the History Channel being shown now.
Too many programs from entertainment channels try to enhance the truth to make it more exciting. I hope they continue to stick to actual events.
