Ghost Stories

I know it is nowhere near halloween but I love ghost stories. Someone was just telling me a story about a house they are renting now while their other one is being built, and it is haunted. The ghost has scared the crap out of their two year old daughter. Apparently it turns things on randomly, like the stove, TV, and lights. It also plays with the little girls toys and makes the toys make noise, if they are that kind of toys. They had a priest come bless the house, and apparently things have quieted down, but not stopped entirely. They are freaked out and their daughter wont even sleep in her room anymore. Next time I talk to them I am going to see if they will let me spend the night in their house. They are not people that would make this stuff up either. I have a fascination with this ghost stuff.

So do you believe in ghosts? Either way, do you have any good ghost stories? Not the the make-believe sit around the campfire stuff. Actual good stuff that you or someone you know have had interaction with. Spill it! :D

Gotta say I'm a believer. I haven't had any personal experiences with them, but my cousin says she grew up in a house in Rhode Island that had a ghost. What I find funny is that she says it so matter-of-factly, "Oh yeah, and a ghost lived in our house, too", as if everyone has one.

I don't know if I believe or not but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the TV show Ghost Hunters. I watch it every week. There are a couple of others that I like, the new one called Paranormal State and A Haunting. The funny thing is I NEVER watch scary movies but I love the stuff about REAL hauntings or ghosts. Every time I go on trips and they have those ghost tours or walks around the town, I want to go but no one will go with me  .

Now if I experienced something in person, by myself, I don't know what I would do?!?

New England has so many old buildings (relatively old, anyway) that there are LOTS of ghost stories.

And Civil War battlefields are pretty wild, especially after dark....

We need to do some ghost tours together. I am also fascinated with old

graveyards like in Charleston and Savannah.

I *know* this will sound strange, but have they thought of simply asking the ghost to stop scaring their daughter?

Many years ago, I visited England and stayed with a "friend". We hooked up with her friends who were very familiar with all the ghost haunts. I saw nothing, then I realized that when I appeared scared she got turned on, so I don't believe they exist but there are special circumstances where I might be a little skeered. Yeah, I'm a pig.

That sometimes helps. I worked with a girl that lived with a ghost. She did some research and found a man was killed on the property years ago. Whenever he'd mess with them she'd just call out his name and tell him to leave them alone.

Actually that doesnt sound strange. Apparently the priest suggested giving it a name, which they did, and anytime something happens they yell the name that they gave it and it stops, but they have to do that every time.

If anyone from CT is lurking this thread, has anyone snuck inside the old fairfield insane asylum? It is abandoned but the cops patrol it regularly now (which is why I wont go), but one of my friends has been inside and swears to never go back again.

I love big abandoned buildings, hospitals, ghost towns, etc. I have never had a ghost experience (that I can remember at least), but I want to find more ghostly places to visit.

Heard but never been. the big thing in my area is the green lady cemetary, and this old abandonded town called dudleyville (been vacant some 150+ years.) I'll have to look up some information on it.
