If you meet Jimmy

I know this has been posted somewhere but I can't seem to find it.
If you meet Jimmy, does he really liked to be called "Mr Buffett" or is "Jimmy" OK? Frankly, if I get this opportunity that I'm hoping to get I'll call him anything he wants, but I wouldn't want to offend.
Can someone point me to the thread or tell me what the real story is?

I've met a few "stars" in my life. I've always called them Mr or Ms whenever I first meet them as a matter of respect, courtesy and because "stars" can be kinda quirky. Usually after I address them with the Mr/Ms they tell me to call them by their first name but sometimes they don't.

That is what I was going to say, I agree. By calling him Mr. Buffett, you are showing you respect him very much. By calling him Jimmy, you are showing you are just a fan who likes his music. I think the "Mr." throws in a huge respect factor. Plus the guy is almost 40 years older than me, I HAVE to call him Mr.

I would call him Jimmy, because he's only a few years older than me.

I thought about it and I usually don't address him. I just say, "hi"!!
There isn't really much of a time in your conversation to address him, as with most conversations.
You wouldn't say, "Hi, Mr. Buffett." You would just say, "Hi!"
