The 7th edition of my Consumer Behavior class entitled "Buying, Having and Being" by Michael R. Solomon cites in the chapter about group influence and opinion leadership the phenomena of Parrotheadism, based on a September 11, 2004 article in the Boston Herald about the Fenway shows.
The case question is "How can Jimmy Buffett fans be considered as members of a reference group? A brand community? A consumer tribe?" I was thinking when reading the chapter, "Hey, this sounds like the Parrothead nation!"
At least I know what examples to use for my essay test tomorrow!
