Jimmy was on St. Barts last weekend for the annual "bucket" races....played for an hour and half on the quay and announced he was officially kicking off the Year of still here tour here....

..Macphin......Jimmy usually makes an appearance on SBH for the annual bucket races...there is always next year to plan for...plus he is always there for new years, but that is too expensive then...we usually go to St. Barts in early June....It is his good friend's Marius's birthday then(Marius owns Le Select bar) and we have missed him 3 times by only a day or two....Someday I will.......

Will somebody PLEASE explain the concept of a bucket race? I figure a few more tailgates and I;d probably be doing similar anyway but I wanna know as soon as possible. 8)

The concept of the staggered start, where each yacht is assigned its own starting time, creates a great safety net in allowing the starting area to be clear for maneuvering. The flavor of the first Bucket set the tone on which “Bucket” regattas have since been sailed. The primary focus is on safe sailing, proper seamanship and winning the party, rather than winning the race. Ratings are adjusted between races to favor the slower yachts, in an effort to bring them into the winner’s circle.

In other words, a fun race and a great party for rich people with big racing yachts. :D
