Buffett Performs at the St Barts Bucket Regattas

Post by phjim »

ImageJimmy Buffett was on St. Barts last weekend for the annual Bucket Regattas race. On Saturday March 29th he played for about an hour and half on the quay and announced he was officially kicking off "The Year of Still Here Tour". Some of the songs that he played acoustic solo included: "Cheeseburger in Paradise", "Margaritaville", "Boat Drinks", "Come Monday", and "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere", "Bown-Eyed Girl", "Fins", and "Autour du Rocher".
Thanks to GEED181 and Matty for passing that along to us.

Update: Here's an article by by Neil Feinberg about his 2008 appearance along with a photo (thanks to Nancy for passing that along).

WOW Thanks For Sharing [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out, and proclaiming,
“Wow, what a ride!!!”

Here is an article about his 2008 appearance and the photo looks like it may be this year:

He's got the same style shorts on he wore recently. The band was with him...you can see Roger behind on drums.

That evening, the host committee held a dinner buffet, featuring roast beef and scalloped potatoes, among many other delicious French/Creole-inspired epicurean delights. The evening's entertainment was topped off by a surprise performance by long-time St. Barth resident, Jimmy Buffett and his band. That's right, it came down to being part of an intimate Jimmy Buffett performance or watching the Comprehensive Long-Range Planning Committee's presentation. Did I really have a choice?

I've seen him several times over the years like this around St Barths, nice, personal, and relaxed, always a treat!!!! Gustavia is such a cool little town, hope it doesn't change with all the increasing publicity.

I'm hoping the same thing...it is really hard to get to, however, and quite pricey when you arrive.
