I don't really think this is a problem unless the men are complaining.

It's a problem for me. I'd much prefer to live in a neat, tidy house but I'm not the f'ing maid and I'm not going to pick up after lazy slobs.

When hubby gets lazy and unhelpful, I stop having sex with him. It has worked pretty well for 8 years so I'm stickin' with it. I can't tell you how many times the dishes have gotten done for "favors." It works both ways, though, 'cause I'm a total backrub whore.

When the kids don't do what they are asked to do around the house, well, then I just don't let them have priveliges, rides to anywhere, money, stuff, etc.

Can someone show this to my wife?

I do all the grocery shopping, half the laundry and cleaning, all of the cooking (on nights that I am home), and all of the R&M. I change diapers, pack Elena's bag for daycare, and feed her lunch. I also work 2 jobs.

As a stay-at-home mom I've come to the realization that it does not benefit me to have a Type A/"I can do anything"personality.... I end up doing everything!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

Speaking of 'Not what I signed up for'......

Wonder how many extra hours of $hit I do now that my husband & I live 7,267 miles apart?
It was just dawning on me the other day, now that the weather's starting to get nice...that in addition to all the INSIDE chores I do...now I'll have to do the OUTSIDE ones as well!
I think I'll have to hire me a lawn guy...pool boy...

Please 'splain "7,267 miles apart" for us newbies? And a "pool boy" might be necessary with 7,267 miles between me and my husband......

I believe her husband is in the military and stationed in Iraq.

Nope.
He lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Works there as a VP for a construction company.

Permanently. Or as he says, 15 years til he retires.
We have 7 children.
We'll see him 2-3 times a year.
Yes, it's very bizarre.

Well, I think that study is crap and the people from the University of Michigan can come over to my house and see me do one less hour of housework a week.

I have no doubt that my wife is doing more housework than before we were married but back then, we didn't have a house and 3 kids. Do they factor things like that into the study? Plus, if you are doing things right, you should be sharing that responsibility with your spouse.

What point does this study serve? Next they are going to have a study telling us sleep makes you more attentive and vodka taken in large quantities makes you drunk. Studies like this just annoy me; what don't they take that time and energy and doing something useful for community, environment, etc.

Ok, rant over. Jimmy in town yet? [smilie=pimp.gif]

I knew it was something funky like that.

It's bizarre, but if your marriage can survive a 15 year separation, then that is pretty incredible!

This study certainly is not the case at my house.

But even if so,
extra work hours for the ladies aint not really that bad. After all, us men do all the work in bed

Look. It's very simple.

Twenty-five years ago this woman I'm with agreed to marry me (I still don't know why - she could have had anybody she chose).

I determined long ago to never give her a reason to reconsider. I cook. I clean. I listen. I give good back rub. Whatever it takes. I'm not the best, but I do my best.

My advice to any young guy just starting out is this: cook, clean, listen and give good back rub - you'll be a very happy man.

Oh and don't forget this: you will have to kill the occasional spider . . . :)
