I almost totally agree. Yet, interestingly enough, 2 of the 3 past winners of the Cup have come from the Southeast Division. It could be the Atlantic division teams beat the crap out of each other during the season and don't have enough left in the tank to get to the cup. Just food for thought...AdamBomb8 wrote:Atlantic Division one of, if not the, toughest division in the NHL. 3 of the Final 4 in the East were Atlantic Division teams.

Or more likley the case is that there has been a power shift in the East. Ottawa, Jersey, TB and Carolina have been replaced by Pens, Flyers, Habs and Caps. ...and that's the way you roll.buffettbride wrote:I picked just the opposite for no good reason other than I say so.Hockey Mon wrote:Cast your vote for who you think will win the cup! I say the Red Wings in 6. One of those wins will be in OT.
I'd be suprised if you picked the Red Wings. I figure you'd never root for that team unless your life depended on it.

The West will be tougher than the east for awhile I think. But I'm still rooting for the Pens over the DeadWings

The Pens played 10 games against Western Conference teams during the season and went 8-1-1, I like the Pens chances. Saturday can't get here fast enough, been too long since the last games, I need to see some hockeyCoconut Pete wrote:The West will be tougher than the east for awhile I think. Should be a good series. Just wish Bettman was such an ass scheduling the series over top of the already established Eastern Conference Finals for the NBA. Will be at the Tigers game Saturday night listening to the Wings on the radio and checking the score of the Pistons game on my phone, should be a good time.
Let's Go Red Wings! And Pistons! And Tigers!

NHL is a joke!!! They make the Flyers play 3 games in 4 nights in 3 different cities. Then teams sit for almost a week before the Confernce Finals and now almost a week before the finals. They need to be done with the playoffs this weekend. If there's a game seven it should be this weekend.TikiBrent wrote:Should be a good series. Yeah, the only reason I keep watching hockey at the NHL level is because I love my Wings so much. There needs to be a serious shake-up with the top-brass in the league, so much of what they do doesn't make any sense what-so-ever.beachbum13 wrote:NHL is a joke!!! Basketball suffers the same fate around here. This time of year the weather is getting nice and nobody cares enough to watch two teams they don't care about play. If your teams in you watch otherwise you try and catch a little here and there. And I watch one hell of a lot of hockey over the course of the season.TikiBrent wrote:Yeah, the only reason I keep watching hockey at the NHL level is because I love my Wings so much. What I can't stand is how, for instance, Washington finished THIRD when they actually tied for 8th or whatever with Philly only because they won their division.
I wish they'd go back to whoever has the most points is ranked that way and it's actually played that way.
As far as division and then conference, I dunno. Maybe it should go back to how it used to be, 1 plays 16, 2 plays 15 and so on. That could make less sense possibly if it's the Wings or Penguins finish first and Canuks or Sharks finish 16th...and so on, if it would end up that way, that's a lot of flying, expense, etc...compared to how it is now, when that kind of set up only happens once.
And the regular season needs to get back to being 80 games - less pre-season games, first round of the playoffs needs to go back to best of five - shorten it up. So division rivals don't play each other so much. So what.
If they continue to expand and take so long to get everyone to play everyone and the Cup finals are at the end of June or July because there's such a stupid long season and all these pre-season games it's going to become a joke like baseball.
Because baseball is a complete joke.
