Good way to see the sights and stay in shape!!!

And BTW, KNWPH, congrats on your 200th post!!! Woo HOOOO!

I thought your name was quite original, but is there really a Key Northwest in Oregon? Whoever thought of that gets the originality award! 8)

So cool for you to live there in the, ahem, POLAR opposite of Key West. :wink: :wink: :wink:

Okay folks, it's the end of April, our FIRST MONTH of Healthy Living. I appreciate all the fit people being our personal trainers and encouraging us in our efforts. And all the gettin' fit people posting your progress. Let's keep it up! Thanks esp. to Ukie for getting this started.

I'm gonna bite the bullet and post my weight... because I plan to keep losing.

Keep in mind, I am 5'10", so I don't look this heavy!
I started April with the highest weight of my life April 1: 217 lbs.
I am today, April 30: 211.
I hit 211 and a half on April 10, so I already got my woo hoo for five pound weight loss, but I went up to 215 the next week, then down to 213 last week, so I am proud to finish the month at 211. Next month I want to finish at 206, the weight I was through most of 2007.

The most I ever weighed before in my life was 212 in January 2005, and by October I was 188. So that is my goal to get back to 188 by October of this year. I did the Couch to 5K that year to lose it, so Mallory, you're doing great! I think I will start the Couch to 5K next week. :wink:

Great Job, CarolinaGirl! Your welcome for starting this thread, but it was a purely selfish move. I realized BN'ers are like most Parrotheads I've met, laid back, easy going, accepting people. I have found a safe place to vent, b****, and work out my weight issues, thanks to all of you!

I've only started following this thread recently but it looks to me like you are doing an awesome job with swimming and going to the gym not to mention how well you are doing with your food intake.

Congratulations!!

Week 3 is kickin' my ass. :lol: I might do week 3 twice just to make sure I got it. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to run tonight because I don't know if I'm just sore or if my knee is injured. :-? I need to get new running shoes sooner rather than later.

Eat some bananas. I just read recently that they're good for muscle and joint soreness -- the potassium.

I certainly wasn't going to post it before, but just decided to, since I plan on really losing it all. And I've said it out loud to hubby and to a couple of close friends, so I had a little practice. Very hard to admit to myself -- This scale MUST be wrong, so that was the first step.

When I was 28 years old, I weighed 135 and ran 2 miles a day to stay in shape. So I've always seen myself as skinny. Had to admit I'm not skinny any more!

I guess I should set my starting point too.

I am 38 y/o, 5' 10" and weigh 182lbs (most ever) which gives me a rough BMI of 26.1. Waist size 34.

BMI Categories:
* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

My goal is 172lbs which is my "normal" weight and a 32" waist so I can fit in my nice clothes (before the next wedding or funeral).

My backpack arrived yesterday and I got another flasher for my bike oh, and a new helmet (foam padding in old one had degraded).

So now I have all the gear and just have to do it.

I'm going to take the bike for a spin around my neighborhood this weekend to make sure everything is working as it should and then Tuesday I am planning to bike to work!

I'm a bit worried though as it has been really windy lately and riding into the wind is like going up hill the whole time. Also I'm really fond of my car and its creature comforts but I've got to start doing something.

I plan on showering at the gym and if I make good time I may do some weight training before work.
