I agree with you about the food for fuel and that's it. My wife and I have been trying to eat healthier. It's a hard thing when you have such an emotional attachment to food. Really bugs me

This is a good book.....I've kind of strayed away from working on it and need to pick it up again, but it does make you think!

the first Thanksgiving dinner is being held at my sister's house. Her MIL is German and she makes all kinds of stuff I never eat any other time than at their house. NONE of if its low cal or low fat. I'm going to try to avoid most of the stuff. There should be a raw veggie tray....and I know I will indulge in one of her creations. The Anise cookies with little pictures on them. I just LOVE those. But there is no way I'm going to ruin all the work I've done over the past two weeks by overeating. One cookie!

Anyone want to help me get on track and stay there? I was on this tread for awhile and fell off a long time back. I need to get back to exercising and sticking to it at least 5 times a week. I am disgusted with my body, I can't stand how I look and I want to be in better shape so that I can keep up with my kids. I have 3 boys...18, 17, and 7. I don't want my 7 year old feeling he has an old worn out mom. I have always been able to go out and run around with them all but I am not having the energy to keep up with him. I know it is more my weight than getting old. I am 5'2" and about 208. I want to get back to 150 at least would prefer 125-130. Eating is not so much the issue for me. I gained most of my weight but for about 10lbs., taking prednisone. I was taking 20 pills a day for about 5 months before I realized it was them that was doing it. I have allegies and asthma and I had no choice but to take them to get things bcak in control. I was gaining weight and not eating differently and just couldn't figure it out until I heard someone else talking about how much wieght they had gain taking prednisone. Ding! Ding! Bells went off. I stopped taking them and stopped gaining weight. Things are better with allergies and asthma and I do occasionally end up taking a 7 day prednisone pack but never daily 20 pills again!! That was alittle over 2 years ago. I have I stopped gaining weight after I stopped the pills. In the last year I have added about 10lbs i think just out of sheer depression. When I researched prednisone I found it actually changes your physical make-up and messes up metabolism. I execised dillingently for months and nothing happened. So, I threw the towel in. I am not a sit around person but I need to get back to an actual exercise routine starting tommorrow. I want to be able to throw a coconut bra on come tailgate time and not want to hide my face. There are alot of issues going on in my life that are just not very positive right now. Last year I joined BN after lurking forever decideing I needed to get myself back on a more positive track....regardless of what is going on around me. I have loved being able to escape here and meeting some new friends. Things still are rather s***ty here. I know getting back to exercising would help. So, anyone want to help keep me on track in 2009? Sorry this is so long. Peace :wench:

GO YOU!!!
I have managed to survive WITHOUT gaining and that's good enough for me! The holidays would generally bring a 5-7 pound spike for me....so maintaining makes me happy!
Back on the wagon though, I have a cruise booked in May and I will have thirty more pounds off by then!

Heck yes, we'll be here for you!
Sounds like a lot to deal with! Are there other options instead of the steroids? They really are so hard on the body.....?
I am jumping on the exercise bandwagon, too. I've done great with food choices, but not so great with moving...so that's next for me, too!

A forum for those of us that want to lose weight and live an active and healthy lifestyle. A place to report in daily, weekly or hourly, whatever you need to stay on track. A place for encouagement without critisism, and friendly help without judgement. Sort of a MSC for those of us that want to get fit and feel better.

I will be reporting in daily, my diet (everything I eat) and my daily exercise.
Weekly, I will be reporting in my weight.
Monthly, I will be reporting in my measurements.
Since I am on the west coast, I will probably be posting later than most of you, but I will be posting everyday.

Hello Kids!
The above post was the original parameters I set up for this thread. Thought we could all use a refresher. Especially me.

Last summer, My family and I went through some financial hardship and I had to drop my gym membership. Dumbest thing I ever did. I lost my daily workout routine, stopped posting here, stopped reporting my daily intake and output, and basically lost my drive to get healthy. Things have not been good for me physically or emotionally, because of my falling off the wagon and it's time to get back on. I will be posting daily starting Monday, January 5th and encourage all of you to join me.

Here's to a happy and healthy 2009 for all of us.

See you all on Monday.

Sally

In my first four months as a mailman I've lost 60 pounds. Went from 255 to 195 [smilie=coolup.gif] Getting paid to exercise is a good thing

:o :o :o :o That's almost exactly what I'm looking to do. (The weight loss part, not the mailman part.) I'm clocking in just around 250, and I want to get back to the glorious 195 I used to be.

Have you considered decapitation?

Personally, I have resolved to eat poorly, drink to excess, exercise infrequently and sleep erratically.
Since I have an abysmal record of sticking to new year's resolutions, this should guarantee that I will be healthier in 2009.
