Re: HEALTHY LIVING
I've gained a few pounds in the last couple of months and have eased up on exercising lately....BIG mistake! but I'm still a far cry from the 280s that I was in in 06. I'm clocking in around 220 and my plan is to be down around 200 pounds by the end of the month.
I know how to do it and I will.

Two days in, two days at the gym, two days not smoking--so far, so good. Though I still look like I'm about 5 months pregnant.

Re: HEALTHY LIVING
I was down a pound today.
Got weighed & measured at Curves....16 pounds and 11.5 inches down from when I started there a couple of years ago.
Next week I start on a "break diet" which is more restrictive than what I've been doing the past month or so...

Re: HEALTHY LIVING
I'm going on a five day liquid cleanse on Monday....just to jump start and get off on the right track. I had pretty much kicked the carb thing....until this last week and I've really been backsliding....gained four pounds for my efforts.

Re: HEALTHY LIVING
Hey Jack, are you using anything to help you stop smoking? My husband kick a 30 year Copenhagen habit with Chantix last November and has stayed clean. I know there are all sorts of side effects (please, no one lecture me) but he had no problem with it and it really worked. You're trying to attack two monsters at once, weight and smoking, that's a lot to do all at once. Get some help if you need it.popcornjack wrote:Two days in, two days at the gym, two days not smoking--so far, so good. Though I still look like I'm about 5 months pregnant.

Re: HEALTHY LIVING
Has anybody tried the P90X program? I know it's hardcore.
I've been reading up on it and thinking about it a lot lately.
I've worked out a lot with weights and situps for some time now but never seem quite satisfied with results. I'm looking for more of a total body/muscle confusion type of workout.

My husband's cousin quit with Chantix about a year ago and did very well with it. He had no other history of mental instability or whatever and wasn't too concerned about the side effects.Salukulady wrote:Hey Jack, are you using anything to help you stop smoking? I've quit "several times" over the last few years, but have been clean except cigars on special occasions for several months now. Used Wellbutrin (Zyban) and the patch and that works wonders for me. Quitting smoking has resulted in icky weight gain for me.

Not gonna lie, I think the Chantix may not be a good fit for me, what with the whole "mental instability" thing.buffettbride wrote:My husband's cousin quit with Chantix about a year ago and did very well with it. Re: HEALTHY LIVING
It seems almost too good to be true. My concern is does it ease you into it, or is day one just as intense as day 90 is? I know that there has to be a certain amount of pushing yourself for any exercise program to be successful, but too intense too quick could turn people off.sonofabeach wrote:After much consideration I just ordered P90X.

I should call my doctor about the wellbutrin. Two days--no smokes. Let's go day three.
Just hang in there. You can do it.

I know it's going to be tough, but losing lots of weight was tough too.popcornjack wrote:It seems almost too good to be true. Thing is, I need that same willpower I had a while back. I'm ready.

Re: HEALTHY LIVING
It appears to be for the serious, already somewhat in shape person, who's not afraid to really push himself. Sonofabeach seems to fit the bill. Good luck and let us know how it goes.sonofabeach wrote:I know it's going to be tough, but losing lots of weight was tough too.popcornjack wrote:It seems almost too good to be true.
