Hey all, got everything booked(including Elks party), getting in 25th. Big question is the lawn really as bad as I've heard on a few posts if so I'm thinking about getting seats.

IndianaPH wrote: If there is going to be something at the Beachcomber, it only seems logical to party there since that is where we are staying. I have a feeling that the 5 hour time difference won't allow my wife to party until the wee hours of the morning Hawaii time, so when she gets tired I can "walk" her to the room and be back before the song is over!!!! Anyone know if the party at the Beachcomber a first come first serve or are they offering tickets ahead of time? We already have tickets for Jake's party on Friday.
We should all help Jason and try to set a goal of consuming all of the liquor at the bar so he can sleep in the next morning.

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
I asked Mitch from Jake's fan club the same thing and he confirmed what I was already thinking. There are only half as many pavilion seats at the shell compared to most of the amphitheaters I go to around here, so the lawn is a lot closer than we are used to. He also said that they will have monitors up and that the lawn will be great for the show. I haven't confirmed this from anyone else, but I don't think it will be bad at all. After all, we will be in Hawaii watching a Buffett show in February. I don't know about you, the worst seat in the house sounds better than staying in Indiana.jr45 wrote:Hey all, got everything booked(including Elks party), getting in 25th. Update: 374 Hours and 55 Minutes until our flight leaves!!!
The next time you get mad, ask yourself the following question. Will it will matter a year from now?
If it won't, breathe in, breathe out and move on. Life is short, remember to have fun along the way.

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
The lawn is fairly steep compared to normal venues. It is also not a loud venue so the lawn chatter can be distracting. On the birght side, there is little to no security so you can probably sneak in various party favors and rush the reserved section without much trouble.IndianaPH wrote:I asked Mitch from Jake's fan club the same thing and he confirmed what I was already thinking. Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
Thanks for the additional info, I may have to start herding the crew that way early to get a "front" seat. Does anyone have a margarita on a fishing pole that I can borrow to dangle in front of them to lead the way? I haven't checked, but I am pretty sure that mine will get confiscated by airport security.cowboyjunkie wrote:The lawn is fairly steep compared to normal venues. Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
Thanks guys, I had heard it gets a little rough up there, but I think I'll stay with the lawn people. As you said IndianaPH it's alot better than being in the northeast right now, although we were close to 70 today in MD!

WooHoo as in you ARE going to Maui??????are flying Thursday to HNL. I came up with a second ticket to Jake’s party on Friday, so she’ll share in those festivities, but if I can’t conjure up a second ticket for Saturday night, I’ll lock her in the closet and go by myself. I have LIPH’s 7th row center section seat (purportedly with Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johannson in the adjoining seats), so the only way Nicole will see Jimmy on Saturday night is if I can score two really, really good seats!
OK.....
Last time I checked....A 15yo keet is plenty old enough to be able to fly her own behind home so she don't miss school.......

There is only one lawn entrance so the line forms early and gets very long. Be there super early.IndianaPH wrote:Thanks for the additional info, I may have to start herding the crew that way early to get a "front" seat. Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
I know there are lots of questions out there for those of you coming to Hawaii for the upcoming concert. Lawn seats are actually really good seats as the Shell is a relatively small venue. Yes you will want to check out the Beachcomber for sure bring LOTS of money! When funds start running low and you have lots more partying to do be sure to check out the party at the Elks club. $10 advance tickets, $2 drafts and Mai Tais. Help support the local Parrothead club and the charities we are sponsoring. www.pauhanaparrotheads.org

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
All-Righteee... This year in Hawaii is going to be fun... Can't wait... But really have confusion about the Margaritaville events!!!
1st of all, this will be awesome to have a Margaritaville available to party while Jimmy is in town...
However, I am confused, and my opinion about this is mixed... This Jason wants to have this killer party at Margaritaville.
Okay... but I think Margaritaville is going to be the ticket for AFTER the concert!!
However, BEFORE the concert, my money is on the party at the Elks lodge!!
Although I am not a member of the Local Parrot Head Club, (I am in Military), I will give them some credit.... They put on a killer party last time Jimmy was here and the price was right!!!
For like $25 bucks, they had a cheap beer, Mai Tai drinks and a killer Mexican Buffet that totally rocked!!!... Plus there was a funny Parrot Guy there that had like 30 parrots you could get you picture taken with!!
For entertainment, they had a small starter band playing some of Jimmy's stuff and as headliner, this guy from California that played the Tropical Rock Scene music we all love. He was hilarious and played darn good too!!
This Year I hear they have "Scotty Bryan", who has played all over the island, Key West, West Coast and last years Parrot Head cruise... I've seen him at Cha Cha Cha's in Hawaii Kai, the "Hideaway" Club at Barber's Point and "Kelly O'Neils" in Waikiki. He is really good!!
I heard he might be playing a post party at Cha Cha Cha's on Sunday... But I could not get a confirmation on that...
Now this party Jason is trying to pump up... I don't get it... Margaritaville is brand new and definately has the decor, but it is in downtown Waikiki... and drinks there are not going to be cheap... So why is he pushing this party??
Well...?? It's obvious...
He works there, so he is trying to get revenue for his bar... i.e. bonus $$$s in his pocket...
I get it... it IS a business and suppose to make money, but I thought Jimmy's parties were suppose to benefit someone??
Besides that, I am not so down with the entertainment choices they have made there either.
For example, I was down there last Saturday and they have the same young local girl they have booked for their party. "Taimane" I think her name was, and although she can play the heck out of an Ukelele, this is not in anyway close to Jimmy's style of music... It's a glorified Don Ho show... as a matter of fact, I think I heard someone say she played with Don Ho's band when she was like 14 years old or something...
This is worse than when Jimmy brings that Jake kid on tour with him... it is like, only marginal as passing entertainment... He plays a great Uke, but it's one or two songs and he is quickly forgotten.
This girl doesn't even know all the words to "Brown Eyed Girl"... Just kept singing the 2nd verse over and over and using "Brown Eyed Boy"... She doesn't have a good voice either... Not my idea of getting into the mood for Jimmy.
Furthermore, I heard Margaritaville hired the "Pirana Brothers" as their house band... These guys were the headliners at the "Irish Rose Bar", (before they turned it into an ABC Store) and they have spent the last couple years playing in a dive in the International Market Place. These guys maybe know one Buffet song... and I have NEVER heard them play it. Not a smart choice...
So now... the confused part... (or maybe not), as to why is Jason asking about suggestion for bands?? If this is going to be such a great party... why is he asking us about entertainment??
What is the deal with shoving Hawaiian show down our throat, before seeing Jimmy?? If I wanted that, I would party at Paradise Cove before the concert...
Hey, this Jason cat is probably not the final say in the entertainment... afterall, I saw alot of old looking local dudes on the news at the "Grand Opening" representing Ohana Beachcomber. I am sure they all have a soft spot for those acts where Don Ho sang for like the last 20 years... I heard he lived there too....
Let it go... Don is in a better venue... Jimmy is here...

Wow..... the Newbie isn't very subtle........ So if you want tot promote something like the elks lodge party (which sounds great) then by all means...promote it. Don't be ranking on Jason for putting on a party for those who may want an alternative (in your own words they put on a great party).....a good time IS A GOOD TIME.......I'm sure there are plenty of fans to go around for both parties without having to go to the dark side .......
But that's just me...........

Re: Who's going to HAWAII???
Dutch, I agree with you as well.....
I am a member of the Pau Hana chapter and this person does not speak for our club in any way. This is definitely not the type of vibe or attitude that we want to personify. Our club is planning another party/charity event at the Elks as we did in 2007. I think there will be enough folks here on the island that both places can have a good turnout. We enjoyed meeting everyone from BN last time and it's our hope that many of you can hit both JB's and our party.
JB's at the Beachcomber is a great place and the staff has been fantastic too our club. We are treated like royalty every time we've been in there. We actually were given passes to an awesome VIP party on opening weekend, and they allowed us to be some of the first customers through the door on opening day. I met Jason several years ago, and Kerry the GM recently and they both have been very accommodating to us Pau Hana Parrotheads. There is no excuse for this type of attitude here on BN.....
Our outlook since the restaurant has opened is that we prefer to work with them, and not to be competing against them. Many of us have already booked rooms in the hotel, and plan to do our post party there. We have held a club meeting there, and hopefully will have many more gatherings at JB's. The new restaurant is actually a good thing for our club in that it allows us to advertise our PHiP chapter, get the word out about our purpose and hopefully expand our membership. We will even be donating a painting of our club logo to be hung inside next week.
Hopefully the previous post won't dissuade every one from hitting our party. We do hope for a good turnout again, and it's really the only big event we get to do every couple of years. It helps support both our chapter and our designated charities "Wounded Warriors", "Hawaii Independent Living" and "Hawaii Food Bank". We'll have some great door and raffle prizes as well, and probably the best TropRock artist I've ever listed too, but that's just my opinion.
Again we apologize, this is not the Aloha spirit......

Lee,
Thank you for your letter above but there is no need to apologize. I think it is pretty clear that this indiviual is not having a good day, oh well....we've all had them..... I have hear nothing but great things about the gatherings that you have had in the past and certainly the spirit of aloha was extended to all and was/is always appreciated. I only wish I were able to attend the show on Oahu, as I would love to visit the elks club and Party PauHana style. At the same time I know the crew at JB's is going to put on a great time....again I wish I were coming......I guess I will just have to console myself with the show on Maui.......
All the Best!
Marcus
