There is a tunnel from the theater parking lot over to the oceanmissingthebeach wrote:The theater is not on the "ocean" side of the beach. You can walk over to "Zach's Bay", a small beach which is just behind the theater. It's a small bay, calm water, parents with little kids tend to use this beach. To get to the the main beaches you would have to park and then walk through one of the tunnels that run under the parkway. I'm not sure if there's a tunnel off the theater's parking lot.photogal wrote:WOOOHOOOOO.....just found out yesterday someone got me a ticket and a hotel room and I think they are renting a van! Getting in Tuesday night! Never been, was on the list of must do's. So is it right on the beach? Can you go to the beach from the parking lot?
The theater is a wonderful place to see a concert! You'll get the breezes off the ocean and the scent of salt water in the air.

I think they built the orchestra seats over the moat when they stopped having Broadway plays and started doing concerts at the theater.missingthebeach wrote:When I was a kid, there was a moat separating the stage from the orchestra seats. I don't know when the moat was filled in--probably happened around the time the upper deck was added.UpstateNYPH wrote: The orchestra seats and the stage are over the water. Literally.

Thanks for the info you guys!! If we are going to be in the lot all day, thought I would go over to the beach for a little bit. Sounds like a great spot!LIPH wrote:There is a tunnel from the theater parking lot over to the oceanmissingthebeach wrote:The theater is not on the "ocean" side of the beach. Pour your beer in a cup, don't walk around with a can or bottle in your hand even if it's inside a coozie. The state park police won't bother you unless you give them a reason to. But you're right about inside the venue, no alcohol at the concession stands.NJPirate wrote:got 2 tickets upstairs .. what is the tailgating scene, i thought that you weren't allowed to drink alcohol in the parking lot or inside?

As LIPH stated, if you don't give them a reason to bust your chops the Park Police won't. They even seem to take it easier on us during the tailgating for a Buffett show. I have heard during other shows they don't let anything go but I think they enjoy the atmosphere. Be sure to offer up something to eat when they come by..lol. Last show a few were riding around on quads wearing leis. Just keep the drinks in cups and have a good time.pete00000 wrote:NJPirate wrote:got 2 tickets upstairs .. what is the tailgating scene, i thought that you weren't allowed to drink alcohol in the parking lot or inside?
Just be cool. In 06 it was pretty much anything goes. Drinking, grilling, etc.

I remember the plays as a kid... my parents took my sister and I to see "Paradise Island" and "Around the World in 80 Days". The revolving stage was pretty cool.LIPH wrote: I think they built the orchestra seats over the moat when they stopped having Broadway plays and started doing concerts at the theater.

In 06 the police stopped by our tiki bar and complimented us on our setup. All drinks were in plastic cups and the blender was churnin on the bar. They gave us no problem. I also have found some creative ways to smuggle little bottles of rum and tequila into the show since they do not serve alcohol inside.
YOU CAN'T DRINK ALL DAY IF YOU DON'T START IN THE MORNING
