Oh to have audited that class for a day...

I remember talking with Livingston some years ago in his dressing room after the show when he was teaching me how to play a song on guitar. He was also talking to a performer about how presentation is the key...much more than the content.

I wasn't a Buffett fan at the time, so it didn't strike me much, but Liv said something like "It's all about presentation. How do you think a mole face man with one marginal hit song and a limited singing voice can become a huge performer that everyone wants to see? My friend Jimmy Buffett has it all figured out--it's about those in the audience and not the music when it comes to concerts. Never forget that."

May not be exactly what we want to hear...but some truth in that I'm sure.

Peace,
Matt

Well I think he has a better voice than that. But, I've heard/read Jimmy say kinda/sorta the same thing about his repore with the audience.

I love his style. I'd gladly sit and listen to him sing the phone book!! I know he would do it with style and in a way that would hold our attention and at the end have us asking for an encore :)

I wish I had the opportunity to have seen his performances during his Key West days at one of the local bars there. Just him, his guitar and unique wit and a small venue of people. Those would have been great nights and were from the accounts I've heard from those lucky enough to have been there.

He is definitely one of a kind in the best sense of that phrase. It is hard to find many performers who has the charisma with the audience that he has. I would call him a total natural.

You can tell how much he loves music and performing each time you hear and or see a concert. All that energy is real. It isn't put on just for the time he is on stage. It is him. You can tell he is truly in his element. He is one with the audience. Feeding from us and us from him. It is a good thing!! Best part is, we get him, we understand what he is saying. There is something about his take on life that just plain makes sense!! You can't say that about many performers.

The most recent examples of his fabulous connection to the audience I think are the beach performance he did in Anguilia, his performance at the club in New Orleans earlier this year and his performance at the St. Barts bar on New Years Eve and most most recently the Glendale opening.

If I'm having a bad day all I have to do is listen to any of Jimmy's music and my attitude changes and life seems like a much better place.

Here is to many many more years of the special magic he works in all of our lives.
