He already dropped WDWGDAS. He did it at the Orlando and Tallahassee shows in February last year and hasn't done it since then.

I'm one of those who feels that, yes, I'd like to see Jimmy throw in some rarities at each show, and deep-six C.I.P. once and for all.
HOWEVER, each time I buy a ticket OF MY OWN FREE WILL, I always know what to expect at the concert I'm going to, and, therefore don't think I, or anyone else, has anything to gripe about. (Even though we all do).
I expect my money's worth, and I've gotten it each and every concert I've been to. (35 and counting).
I've never been disappointed at a Jimmy Buffett concert, and anyone who says they have has to be an honest to God SOURPUSS!
He's going to play what he's going to play.
We have two choices-

1)Accept it, deal with the 2-3 songs you don't particularly care for, treasure the evening for what it is, or

2)Stay home and let someone who WILL enjoy the concert have your ticket.

Well, I disagree with all of you.

I believe Jimmy should call ME prior to every concert and ask ME what I want to hear. Then he would make up the set list accordingly so I got exactly the show that I wanted. And everyone else can just go **** themselves.

Well, I certainly do not agree with the fact that if he changed his setlist more often, more of us would go to multiple concerts.

Just look at everyone here now...most people around here already go to numerous concerts even with the same setlist.

I do not keep going to concerts so I don't potentially miss my favorite song. I keep going to concerts because I don't want to miss Jimmy. And I don't want him to miss me. ha ha

Like many people already stated, if Jimmy did not play all the most popular hits at his concerts, he would not be a very wise businessman. That is how he has lasted so long...new people get drawn in, they know the music, they sing along, they have fun, they return...with more new people and the circle goes on and on.

He sang all the SYKBH in Hong Kong. Was it boring? Absolutely, positively not...best show ever. There were so many new fans there that were so excited to hear all the favorites. It was pure pleasure watching them as they sort of new the words. No wonder Jimmy likes doing it!

How many of you have been to a concert, regardless of the musician, and the musician didn't play a lot of hits? Instead, they played a lot from a new album or something and you KNEW nothing. It isn't half as fun!

I went to see Alan Jackson at the Strawberry Festival. I didn't know any of his songs except one: you guessed it "5 O'Clock Somewhere!" I stood up and started singing and dancing like a crazy person and all the boring people around me looked at me like I was nuts. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy listening to his other music and listening to the words, etc. But the best time at that concert was when I new the words and the song.

Now, (I think I should cut out the caffeine today) EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT IDEA OF A PERFECT SETLIST.

If Jimmy changed the setlist too much, people would whine about that. He can't please all the people all the time but he can please Michelle all the time!

Have a cocktail, tailgate with friends, sing the music, dance around. Who cares what he sings? At least he's "Still Here."

ANYTHING you want to sing, Jimmy, I'm there and I'm very happy!! :D :D :D

What is very sad is that this tour has not even started yet, and there is already griping about what the setlist may or may not be. There will come a time, hopefully a long time from now, when we won't have a summer tour from Jimmy Buffett to look forward to, and then what will be said then? I'm just very glad that he is still touring, because as some have said, he could have easily hung it up a long time ago.

I wouldn't mind Jimmy giving up a couple of the covers and the "big 8" for a some rareities we don't hear that often. Other than that, I agree with Larry, all Jimmy and the CRB owes us is the best show they can put on.

OMG - Ladies and gentlemen, I didn't say change the whole set-list. In fact I started off by explaining I understand why he has to play the SYKBH. All I am saying is that I think I am entitled to ONE or TWO different songs, songs that he wrote. That's all.

If you think that that is asking too much, then answer this question: Would you be happy if he came out played Big Rig and then was done with the show? From your arguments each of you have to say yes.

Personally, I think that a loyal and supportive customer can be demanding. And that's not this culture's "entitlement" mentality. Look at everything around you, business is about rewarding customers (frequent flyer miles, points for purchases, by 10 get the next one free). What I am saying is that as a loyal, grateful parrothead over many years, I think that he should reward me, and you, with ONE or TWO songs.

I am not trying to start a fight. It's my opinion, sorry if it upsets you. Enjoy your concerts this year.

What if everyone just came back on and said, "All I was saying was..." and then repeated what they originally said. Could you imagine the kind of discussion we would have?

Don't get mad. All we were doing was expressing our opinions as you did yours. It's all in good fun and a way to kill some time while at work.
Cheers.

I'm ALWAYS intrested in reading everyone's ideal (REALISTIC) set list.
I'm sure a thread will be started on this again within the next few weeks.

13 Set 1 songs, 13 set 2 songs, a couple of accoustic songs to start out set 2, and 2-3 encore songs.
It's just nice to see what everyone's choices would be.

Again, I have my own choices of the songs I'd like to hear, but I AM going to four concerts this year, so I'm happy.

It seems to me that there were many concerts last year that had ONE or TWO (and even MORE) really nice surprises including, but not limited to:

Tin Cup Chalice in Orlando
He Went to Paris in Paris
They Don't Dance Like Carmen No More and countless others including
Distantly in Love in Anguilla
Coast of Marseilles in Paris
Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season in Tampa
Stories We Could Tell in Alpine
Opening with Fruitcakes in Tampa was a real treat!
Slow Boat to China and Somewhere Over China in Hong Kong
Coast of Marseilles WITH Fingers Taylor in Bristow
Lovely Cruise in Hawaii
God's Own Drunk at the Fillmore
Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfants in Paris/Anguilla

There are many, many more. It seems like he usually tries to through a special song in about the area he's playing. He also seems to close with an acoustic solo, which is great.

the way i see he could do both.play the yellow album and still have room for 13-14 other songs.the problem is the filler he adds each year which is always cover songs.there is just no need for them with all his material.fruitcakes sold a lot of copies and thats an album that doesnt get as much play time as you would think it should.and thats just one example.you start to question if he likes his material or not.

Going back to the original poster's point. I think he always does do a few special "goodies" each concert. Just last year I heard King of Somewhere Hot, That's My Story & I'm Sticking To It, Treat Her Like a Lady, Boat Drinks solo, Stars on the Water and It's My Job with just Jimmy and Mac. All of those I had never heard (at least in that arrangement), and might not ever hear again. Throw in some songs of TTWWY like Hula Girl at Heart, Regabilly Hill, Weather With You, and it made for some pretty good sets.

I agree with Larry, I know when the band takes the stage I'm going to hear Cheeseburger, Volcano, Come Monday, Margaritaville, etc. for the umpteenth time (not that I really object to any of the usuals). I do expect that Jimmy and the Band put on the best show possible and not simply breeze through it to get it over with.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar
