We are thinking of flying out of Mid-way to Long Island to go into Yankee Stadium to watch a series in September. My question is has any of you been to Yankee Stadium, and can you recommend a place to stay that is easily accessible to the stadium (Never been to NY). I know Long Island is east but we were thinking of cabbing to a recommened hotel.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Been to Yankee Stadium many times and you're best bet is the subway. It's about 30-45 mins from midtown and only costs $2. You don't want to stay near the Stadium (in the Bronx) and Long Island is much too far away, not to mention you'd have to battle traffic to get there.
The B, D and 4 lines to go the Stadium. Here's a subway map so you can see where these lines go. Generally speaking, you can stay on the upper east side, upper west side, in midtown or even downtown and it's all pretty accessible to the subway lines.

Another option to getting there is to take the Yankee Clipper which goes up the East River. I've heard it's quite fun and I'm thinking about doing sometime soon.

Unfortunately I'm hopeless when it comes to manhattan hotel recommendations, but I think the topic has been covered on this site before.
What games will you be at? I'm there on Sept 15 and 17 for White Sox.

Hotels in Manhattan is pretty expensive, if you want a decent hotel, and I'm not talking about places like the Four Seasons either. Subway is the best to get around.

The beds and rooms are small, but it's a nice location, in a safe neighborhood, and only about 6-8 blocks at the most to the subway lines that you would need for the stadium.

Hey, we are coming down for that 9/15 game also! Haven't worked out where to stay yet, will figure out closer to the date, but we usually crash w/ friends, typically near Times Square & take the subway or we have stayed w/ friends in NJ and driven in and out.
