I'm not a Republican by a long shot, but my friends in the political know all tell me that George W is a down-to-earth guy who's never feels a need to impress anyone.

He's succeeded in not impressing anyone.

As far as his activities in promoting awareness of the problem, I think it is unavoidable that as an individual, he is going to create more of a carbon footprint. He couldn't very well get his message out if he lived in a secluded commune in upstate New York.

If George Bush is such a 'stand up' guy when it comes to 'green' living, why isn't he promoting these ideas to the nation? Why has he enabled legislation and a regulatory environment that goes in the other direction?
Why not? I don't see how a 20-room mansion with eight bathrooms helps him get his message out?

Just another "Do as I say, not as I do" politician. I wish I could say that I am surprised, but I'm not.

They were talking about the pope's speech at the white house this morning on the radio. He ended it with "...and God Bless America." The president was obviously moved and said... "Your holiness, that was an awesome speech!" I thought that was cute! The one dj said... at least he didn't call him dude.

Seriously??? :o :o :o

Look, I understand Al's need to travel to get his message out (even if I disagree with him.)

BUT... when it comes to a choice he could EASILY make - a truly GREEN home vs. where he currently lives... the only word that comes to mind is

HYPOCRITE

Heck, he could have a green home and STILL contribute $$ to renewable energy projects or carbon credits or whatever other environmental hocus-pocus he comes up with.

Al Gore is a politician. I wouldn't expect anything less from him.

Alright. I'm not going to argue with anyone here about this issue today. There's no point. I'm going to Paris tomorrow for a week of R&R with a lovely woman (my wife of twenty-five years). I expect that Wednesday afternoon will find us enjoying a nice bottle of red wine and some cheese on a sunny patio somewhere in the Latin Quarter. I also expect that I'll spend the week surrounded by a lot of people who think like I do.

But I will leave you with this thought:

Al Gore's positive record on environmental issues goes back decades.

George Bush has no record on environmental issues that I'm aware of.

Now put that in your 'two houses' pipe and smoke it! :)

I'll gladly smoke it.

But I think all politicians are scumbags.
