I like Southern Cross.. Jimmy does it pretty well, but misses a few notes, so I prefer the CSNY version.
I could live without BEG, Scarlet Begonias, and Glory Days. Not because they are covers, but I don't think they're in the vocal range that Jimmy does well.

I agree!murPH wrote:Personally I cannot complain about anything Jimmy sings to me live at a concert. I can fire up my Ipod anytime I want to hear my favorites--Desperation Samba, Stars Fell on Alabama, Blue Heaven Rendezvous, et al. In the YOSH, I am more than glad to be able to get out the beads and the margarita mix and head over to a concert and listen to anything he wants to play for us. I am glad we are ALL still here, old phriends and new, and I will take me a little Jimmy anyway I can get him!
I like Southern Cross AND Brown Eyed Girl.
I'm not complaining, but if truth be known...I could do without Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw.
Would LOVE to see Tin Cup Chalice added!

The Big 8 you are living in the past, it is now the Big 12. For me I just can not live with that I am a Big 10(11) Fan. What songs would we need to drop to get to 10 or 11. Keep Southern Cross it warms my heart and contorts my face into singing and grining everytime I hear it live. I would have to say that every concert is usually in the Big 25-28 range. I love them all.

To be honest, I've tried Southern Cross at a Karaoke once. That is a real hard song to keep up with so I give him a lot of credit.SMLCHNG wrote:I like Southern Cross.. Jimmy does it pretty well, but misses a few notes, so I prefer the CSNY version.

I'm in the minority but I think he has to play the "standards" every concert, mainly because in the long run that's all most people know (and most of us were in that position before)...

I'm not crazy about hearing SOME of the "standards" but sure do understand why he plays them.

I absolutely love Jimmy's version of Southern Cross-always sounds heavenly. Love Brown Eyed Girl as it's a pretty much a summer standard. I'm real happy to see that Jimmy is bringing "Mexico" back. As for any other covers Jimmy should practice 8-12 or so per tour and rotate. I liked Brian Wilson's "In My Room" last year as well as Crowded House. As a big Bruce fan I loved the novelty of "Glory Days" in Philly a few years ago but he tends to butcher it a bit-good if he changes the lyrics a bit. I like to hear different songs each tour-I can actually do without some standards such as "Come Monday", "Tin Cup Chalice", WDWGDAS, and even perhaps FINS.
I like my shows upbeat and to have the setlist vary. Many fans attend multiple shows.

But, regarding BEG, after singing it at Nissan last year Jimmy proudly declared: "I like playing that song!" Isn't that maybe, just maybe, what this is all about????

Jimmy can play whatever he wants as long as he keeps touring. A suggestion would be for Jimmy to just add 4-6 more songs per night to the set list. WE WON'T MIND!!!!!!!!!
Trying to reason with Hurricane Season......
