Normally it would take me 30 minutes. I'm figuring on an hour and a half. The back way in goes right past the beach, so no help there. One road in and only one entrance. Just prepare to wait. Otherwise you could go grab a spot in a lot in Newport for about $20 for the day and take the water taxi across to the venue.
Don't speed on Rts 114 and 138 (West Main and East Main) on your way down the island. The police love holiday and festival weekends; the towns make lots of revenue on speeding tickets.

I paid in advance for parking at the site so the Water Taxi option is out..
Is there a long walk to where the stages are from the parking area?
Any shelter out there from the rain if it comes??

Not too far, although I don't know if they'll start using satellite lots and running shuttles. There's no shelter from the rain (but it's not gonna rain... uh-uh.... ) Here's a pic of the venue:

Does anyone know if they allow those camping chairs in the bag into this thing?
Also, I see footage from a lot of the other years on YouTube and people have coolers? Are coolers allowed?
Is it wise to get there right when the doors open??
