The backdrop of the concert was great, add in the rainbow and it was incredible. What more could you ask for at a Buffett show? The bay and boats in the background, a nice breeze going through the audience all day. It reminded me a bit of the Live by the Bay show.
We came up from southen NJ to see the show, and brought our 9mos baby with us. It was certainly a kid friendly event. We planned this trip after hearing that it would not be a "typical parrothead show". Our group was pretty excited that he may dig deep into his vault of lesser played concert songs, go all acoustic, and possibly go in the "way back" machine and pull a song from Down to Earth. We have been waiting years for this type of show. When we heard it was JB and Mac, I think a lot of people were excited.
As soon as I saw the drumset remain on stage before Buffett took it, the realization hit me that there may be a couple of non-acoustic songs in the setlis. I was very disappointed to get the Year of Still Here mini concert after hearing JB's thoughts on the Newport Folk Festival prior to buying tickets.
It was at best a mail in performance in my opinion. Your opinion may vary. To me he just showed up, got on stage and regurgitated the same songs/setlist as it was any other venue on his tour and collected his money. So we made the best out of the situation and basically made his performance (or lack of) background music for the good time we had hanging with friends by the Bay.
I do not want to come across sounding mad or bitter, I am not. I cherish the memories I shared with my son at his first show, haning out with great friends, on a great day, in a beautiful town. I think my enthusiasm and believability of Buffett's word took a hit yesterday though.
Cheers,
Kevin

Excellent shots from the first to THE LAST. Thanks so much for sharing them here.jimsig wrote:It was great to see some of you there yesterday. My pics have been uploaded to webshots http://good-times.webshots.com/album/565027402dYLVcc
I loved seeing all the shots up close and the ones of the area. Love the guitar photos too and the ones of Jim Mayer and Mac and Jake and Nadirah.
The one of Gillian and David is nice. It was good to see the dress she talked about buying at the resale shop..."probably from the 70s"
