It won't hit me until we are ushered into the bar at 8pm. Somewhere less than 200 of us getting to see Freddy on stage will be awesome. See you in line at 8pm Thursday! Pass the tub of landshark please...

Margaritaville Pre-Show Update

Okay, all us ticket holders, here's the skinny from Margaritaville management about the Block Party. There will be two separate entrances. The one side (Decatur Street) will be the Inside Pass Holder's entrance. They said there would be 100 people in line to get inside. Doors open at 8PM. The other side (French Quarter Place) will be where the Block Party entrance will be with approx. 300-500 people standing in line to enter. These gates open at 7PM. The staffer I spoke with recommends that we stay in our line in order to get in and avoid the crush of the Block Party line. She didn't say we couldn't go to the Block Party but this is what she recommended. This is the best info I have gotten so far. See you Thursday.

I think we'll warm-up somewhere else nearby and plan to get there at 8pm. There were only 30 or so people who purchased tickets online, so only 30 ID checks need to be made. the line of 100 should go quickly once they start at 8pm.

We agree, a quick line. BTW, one thing I forgot to mention was according to management, the restaurant's "normal" hours of operation on Thursday will be 11AM 'till 4PM. Then the place closes down until they open the doors at 8PM. We can still get in for lunch and scope out the layout.

Thanks for the update....

catsway - Thanks again for the update information. The Mermaid and I really appreciate it. We are planning on stopping in for lunch on Thursday so it's good to know that it will be open.

We can hardly wait.....

See everyone in NOLA on Thursday!!

If you go to scope out the venue over lunch, I was told that we would all basically be in an area in front of the stage. Between the stage and the Island bar area. Even if you had the worst possible spot to stand in the area, you'd only be 30 feet away from Freddy and the band. It will be an awesome evening.

i am soooo jealous of those who are going. i wanted to try to get tix, but a week notice just wasnt enough for me. i have been to the new orleans m'ville, and the stage area in the bar is very small! it will be the definition of intimate. have fun!!!!!!

I'm going to the block party but if anyone from now until the time the concert starts has an extra ticket I will already be there and will joyfully pay for the extra ticket plus I'll take care of drinks once inside.

I saw Jimmy at a similar setting in Montauk back in the 90's at The Dock and when his set was finished, he walked through the crowd signing autographs and taking pictures. It was definitely intimate and I'm thinking that this show will be about the same... ensure you bring your items for autographs!!!

it would be cool if the rest of the Fishsticks did the same after the show too. I've met Peter and Jim a couple times and they are very cool guys. The chance to party a bit with the band would be great.[/quote]

So I am in for the F&FS show, this will be my 4th Bubba show at the NOLA Margaretville. They close down early and take all the tables out of the restaurant and open up the floor. Don’t know if the parrots nest will be open it is generally reserved for the band, friends and family. Have never made it that far thought. Last time I saw a show here it was Little Feat w/ Jimmy and only Little Feat songs. It was still great. Can’t wait for Thursday.

Found this on her mySpace page:

Nadirah Shakoor

"May, 1 2008 at Margaritaville, New Orleans
1104 Decatur St, New Orleans, Louisiana 70116
Cost : $200

It’s Jazz fest time in New Orleans! This year Jimmy Buffett is featuring The Coral Reefer Band in a benefit concert at Margaritaville. Nadirah will be debuting songs from her upcoming CD "Nod to the Storyteller". Other Coral Reefers will also be featured as well as special guest performances."

I also noticed that Sonny Landreth has a gap in his schedule just before his show in New Orleans on Sunday. Since she recorded some her material with his band....makes me wonder?
