Captain Quint

I may be making my way to the beach this weekend and see that Captain Quint is playing one afternoon. Anybody have any thoughts? Is it worth my time?

Maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do, it's the child in us we really value.

From what I heard, they are a great band to see. Caught part of their act when they were performing at the Nissan Pavilion before one of the Buffett shows there. I had thought they had broken up.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

Captain Quint is the BOMB!

They're hardcore trop-rockers. One of my favorite groups, really.

I saw them quite a while ago...but, from what I remember, they're really good. You should definitely go see them if you have the chance.

They sound pretty good. If the weather holds up, I just may head for the coast and I'll probably go check them out.

I love Capt. Quint. "Swinging Sailor of Perryman" is one of my favorite CDs. I've heard the band has been through some changes but I bet they're still good.
Love in the library, quiet and cool.

Thoughts? Yes, are you going by yourself? How the hell are you getting out of the house for more than a few hours with a relatively new baby at home? Either the wife and kid are coming with you or you have one very understanding wife. :)

The in-laws have a place in OC and we're talking about going. Since Cap't Quint is playing in the afternoon at Springfest, I'm sure we could either take the baby along or perhaps the grandparents would watch her. Surprisingly (for me at least), it was my wife's suggestion to go.

If I am not mistaken they also played on the cd "Life on the Gulf" by Jake and the music on that cd rocks...or should I say trop rocks....: )

They are a great band and wish they would get out more.

As a follow-up, I did see Captain Quint this weekend. They were ok in my opinion. They were billed as a Jimmy Buffett tribute band and played an hour with two originals and the rest Buffett songs. They did a good job on the Buffett stuff, but listening to someone else play the standards that I've heard a thousand times before didn't do anything for me. The two originals I heard were pretty decent though.

That's the message I've been trying to get through to Kevin. PLAY CAPTAIN QUINT! He doesn't listen.

I'd enjoy hearing their originals on RM (or at least the two I heard). The couple songs seemed well written and had a good groove to them. From a musical perspective, they sounded very good.

Their Buffett covers suffered a little, mostly because of the vocalist in my opinion. He has a good voice, but it isn't meant for JB songs. If I were to see them again, I'd much rather hear originals than a JB tribute set.
