Who are you picking in today's race? I like Colonel John. Anyone have a good Mint Julep recipe?

Pryo , and then War Pass watch for Cool Coal Man
Since it is Derby Day
Early Times Mint Julep
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
Sprigs of fresh mint
Crushed ice
Early Times Kentucky Whisky
Silver Julep Cups
Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

went to the track yesterday to place bets and I have a guaranteed winner!! i'm going to a K-Derby party so i bought 20 $2 win tix for each horse to hand out to people at the party.
Also got $5 win tix on Z Fortune & Monba (because my wife likes gray horses) and I took $5 on Visionaire & Recapturetheglory. This is one of my favorite weekends...Mint Juleps for the Derby and Margaritas for Cinco De Mayo!! ![coolup [smilie=coolup.gif]](./images/smilies/coolup.gif)

Our horse is running at the track here today. We have to get there early, unless we park down at the stables and trudge up to the grandstands. Some of the ladies will be wearing bit hats - If I wear a hat it'll be a cowboy hat.
It should be unusual.
I haven't even really looked at the racing form and I won't have a mint julep - after last night I'm thinking bloody mary since we'll have to be there so dadgum early - even the owners boxes should be crowded
I'll wait to place my bet closer to post time - I think the condition of the track will be a huge factor as you've got 3 horses that really do well in sloppy conditions. If it's a dry track, I'll probably go with Big Brown to win.

Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,totally worn out, and proclaiming,
“Wow, what a ride!!!”
