What others tell you about another person? Ie you dont want to get to know them - they are a total &&&&&&&& etc ....???

I have had the situation where one of my team told everyone in the team about a new person that was coming in - I was appalled .......

I did not know the person coming and kept an open mind and they are nothing how they were percieved.....

Am I in the minority? ie keep your own views to yourself on someone and let people make up their own minds???

I tend to wait and make my own judgments about others.........

I listen to others, but prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt and judge them on how they treat me and those around me.

I had a co worker who despised a new co worker that was coming in... and wanted everyone else to dislike her also. She disliked her to the point that she would not look at her when she had to speak to her for 6 months. The girl would go home crying because "old" was so mean........ The new girl is now one of my greatest friends, nothing like the old co worker (who really didnt know her anyhow) had said.

The old co worker left, and the office is much more peaceful now.
..... definitely consider the source. Everyone in our office is really close, including the new girl. No one really speaks to the old co worker anymore.... so I think there is something to be said for that.
