This is definitely one of the worst storms I've seen here that wasn't hurricane/trop.storm. At 3am it woke everybody in my home up due to crazy wind and all kinds of stuff blowing everywhere. It sounded tornado like out there. I was scheduled to have off today but my school called me in at 10:00. Several teachers couldn't get in and a couple more had to leave early to deal with problems with their homes. One teacher had to leave because of a power outage causing problems in her Atlantic City home. Another couldn't get in from Sea Isle. When I left the island at 10 it was terrible. When I came back at 2 it was worst. I just drove my son to his place on 39th street. It took me a long time to find a clear place to get through to his home because most bay side streets are deep under water. Francis, if what I just saw is what you are dealing with I feel bad. I don't see it heading into any homes. I just don't know where they're all parking their cars. I"m ocean side which is the high part here. But I have some surfboard damage from boards that were pretty secure on the back porch. Everything is all over the back. Tomorrow will be a big cleanup day around here.
On my way home I passed through Linwood and Somers Point. Linwood was hit badly with power outages, many downed trees and signs.

Well the Causeway Bridge was closed most of day due to crosswinds. We clocked one gust at 92mph...OMG !! :o SRHS kids were stuck in school because they wouldn't bus them over bridge.
Lost an apple tree and the fence it was tied too...what a mess ! My house looks like it has been blasted with a leaf blower, leaves are stuck to siding like a blanket. Dogs refused to go out today, had to drag 2 Labs out in rain ( they are supposed to like water, guess not wind ).
All this as I am literally 1mos from knee replacement..what a way to recover and I can not drink yet !!! Well back to the Perc's....better than nothing I guess. [smilie=blush.gif] Someone please have a Margarita for me and send the buzz my way !!

Our back yard is filled with leaves and tree branches. It looks worse than any hurricane we've had. Our lawn is a swamp.......thank God we're not near the river...... :o
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

mr oc just came back from the drug store 17th store in his big work van. There was water up to hos headlights. He said that means at least his waist. I'm glad he decided to take the van and not the car. He would have never even gotten through. Police are now blocking alot of the roads.

I was through Somers Point yesterday and it seemed fine. Random wind damage like signs down, some trees, lots of mulch all over but that's it. In fact in Ocean City as long as you moved your cars you were probably ok. On the news they showed some homes that did get water in them, probably bay side. They showed some cars with water to the windows, almost under water. They said they had to do some water rescues of people in cars. I don't see how that happened. It was clear what streets you shouldn't be trying to drive on.

They'll tell you not to drive through water and people ALWAYS think they can get through it like they are in a boat :o

My first thoughts exactly. And y'all coastal folks wonder why you can't get a decent trade-in price for your vehicles...

not quite as scary about what you all are going through but one year out here on Nantucket a real bad Nor' Easter blew through and we all hunkered down at perrenial Jimmy Buffett hang out, The Chicken Box, and the water started to come over the dune but at that point we were all so hammered we couldn't get any sand bags stacked from the shed so we just sat on the bar and when needed "rowed" (sank) to the rest room on bar stools . . . management was a tad annoyed.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

:o yikes :o
Hope the water goes down SOON !
With all these earthquakes, typhoons, cyclones etc. happening, I'm getting a tiny niggling of concern for this year's hurricane season.

Not to mention that armageddon thing.
