MRI sounds

Post by SMLCHNG »

For those who have never had the pleasure. ;)

Had one done yesterday. It was the 2nd one I've ever had in my life. I was in the 'tube' for an hour, just for some tests on my thumb. :o I sure didn't remember the previous one being soooo long and loud. :-?

But here are a few of the sounds you hear (even with earplugs in) that last for at least 5 minutes each 'sound'. [smilie=shake.gif]

I don't mind being in the machine, as I'm not claustrophobic, but those repetitive sounds? It has a good beat, but you can't dance to it.

I've had 2, one on my knee and the other on my shoulder. The knee didn't bother me but the one on my shoulder lasted about 45 minutes and I couldn't wait for it to end. It was a closed MRI, I'm not claustrophobic but it was very uncomfortable.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

Uh huh... that's exactly it... Was on my stomach for an hour, with my right hand stretched out in front of me holding really still.

I had a few MRI's and hated every one of them. The last one I had, I had a SEVERE migraine that I was hospitalized for - they had to do an MRI to make sure nothing else was going on in my brain. Imagine having a migraine and having to listen to those sounds. :o :o
I met my husband at a Buffett concert!!!

I hate them :x . whirl, whirl,bang,bang, whirl, ping, whirl,bang.

Yuck.

:x

I told you this story last night, had one a while back, I brought a Norah Jones cd with me to keep me calm, so they turned the sound all the way up and all I could hear was those bangs, whirl, bang and ping noises with a slight hint of the music. After I left, I stopped at a store, they were playing Norah Jones on the intercom, next door they were doing construction. So after an hour in the mri machine with all of those noice.

I walked into the store, heard the music and the banging and ran the heck out of there.

Had one about 10 years ago. It wasn't bad; I was just really concerned that I was going to not lie totally still and mess up the test. I got use to the banging after a few minutes.

I have had 3 and they didn't bother me---I start to play mental games, trying to figure out how much time has passed, and I sing songs to myself and things like that to pass the time.

But I have had friends, including a doctor, who had to be tranquilized to have one done.

Had 2...

The first one wasn't bad at all...but I was on really heavy drugs, and landed in the ER straight from the doctor's office. Don't remember much of it at all...

2nd one was on my hip and knee and seemed to take forever and the noise drove me nuts...I didn't like it at all...I'm requesting drugs again if I have to have another one...

I've had two MRI's for a bad knee. They weren't too bad. I gave my wallet to my wife before one of the MRI's. She came in to check on me after a while and I didn't find out til later that she had deactivated all of the magnetic strips on my credit cards.

Have had a couple of them on my shoulders. Worst part is they manipulate the shoulder into the most painful position it can be in and tell you to hold still for ever.
