Judged a competition yesterday. All the BBQ I could eat!!!! Some good barbecue, no really great barbecue. No really bad barbecue either. Hanna probably didn't help any.
Just got done eating hamburgers left over from Monday's tailgate!!!! They tasted better there. I did have the show playing on the radio though!!!
I need to catch Walmart when they put the meat on clearance. Steaks are just too bloody expensive these days. Well, not really. I'm just extra poor lately!

If you have a SAMS club try to get meat there. They have some great prices, I just bought a beef tenderlion for next weekend today out there and it was a great price! Also they had ribs on sale today!

I need to get my Sam's membership renewed. They do have good meat there.....especially when you catch it on markdown!!!!!!
The one thing I don't like about Walmart (not sure if Sam's does it as well) is the "enhancement" they do. I have a farm nearby that sells meat. If I ever start competing (and maybe even if I don't) I'm going to start buying from them. Comparable prices to the grocery stores, but better meat.

I buy at least 5-6 Prime Ribs out there around Christmas for some customers and a couple cases of Beef Tenderlions and they always give me some great prices!
"A Midland-based barbecue company won first place last week during the 20th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off.
Bone Daddy's BBQ took home a check for $7,500 and a trophy after competing against 24 cookers from around the United States, including competitors from Chicago and Elizabethtown, Ky., who gathered at John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nev.
"We are the best team in the U.S, the best in the West," said an excited and hoarse Bill Wall Jr. by phone from his Nevada hotel room. "This is pretty good bragging rights."
Only the top 25 cookers in the United States are invited to the event each year.
"They have a waiting list of 500 teams to get into the event," Wall said.
The victory was not the first for Bone Daddy's at the competition, where it has competed since 1991. The restaurant took the top prize in 1999, placed fifth in 2006 and third in 2003. Wall said that he has won 300 trophies for his ribs."
