Another useless fact

Well maybe not if you eat Wonder Bread and want to buy the freshest loaf.
You can tell how fresh the bread is by the color of the twist used to hold it closed. Bread is delivered five days a week, and they put a different colored tie on to designate which day of the week the bread was baked:
Monday - Blue
Tuesday - Green
Thursday - Red
Friday - White
Saturday - Yellow
although it may vary due to geographical location.

Never knew that either. I was using the low-tech way of reading the date on the bag.

Also, buy your bread from the bottom and the back (as long as they still rotate bread like they used to.) Traditionally, the older bread was moved to the top shelf by the vendors each morning during my teenage years of working in a grocery store.

Yep...it's true. Although
don't always go by the twist tie....We have crackheads working at the bakery and have gotten 3 loaves, same date, with different color ties.... (ok, they may NOT be crackheads, but we call them that...

)
I work for a Natl Food Company that owns Sunbeam, Natures Own, Cobblestone, Bluebird, Mrs Freshley's, etc.....( a lot of other name brands too....)
I work in one of their distributor stores, and it is a royal PITA because we can't go by the color tie always, and have to look at the date on each and every loaf.....We also supply the little Honey Wheat loaves you get at Outback, the Red Lobster biscuits, and a lot of other restaurant breads....Love the days Fresh comes in...Especially for the Rye, Pumpernickel, and those Outback loaves....
Love having a good Salad for dinner with those little loaves...!
And trust me, it is NOT an easy job....

But I do have way more muscle tone now...
but I can't stand to walk down the bread aisle at the grocery store anymore...hate that smell... ![beadygrinner [smilie=beadygrinner.gif]](./images/smilies/beadygrinner.gif)

Interesting, I never pay much attention to the bread ties, just the nutrition label.
