How are we supposed to choose from that list???

I love Gossamer, but he wouldn't be around without the big guy, so I have to go with Bugs.

Foghorn Leghorn, hands down
He always got some of the most "adult" dialogue 8) being the rooster in the henhouse... I will always remember this exchange for as long as I live...

Leghorn: "now, boy... what do you think you're a'doin' here?"

Henery the Chickenhawk: "I'm hunting me some chicken. I'm a chickenhawk, and you're a chicken!"

Leghorn: "now, boy, you've got it all WRONG. You don't want someone like ME"... (shows him his boney thigh pulled up from under his feathered "suit").
"Now what you want ...is some delicious DAWG!"

So many great memories. My BIL got a Road Runner tatoo in Mexico back in the early 80's. My in-laws were thrilled

Probably my second fave was Marvin Martian.

Great poll, Garry!

now I've got it stuck in my head....

If you're on the highway and the Road Runner goes beep beep.
Just step aside or you might end up in a heap.
Road Runner, Road Runner runs on the road all day.
Even the coyote can't make him change his ways.

Road Runner, the coyote's after you.
Road Runner, if he catches you you're through.
Road Runner, the coyote's after you.
Road Runner, if he catches you you're through.

That coyote is really a crazy clown,
When will he learn that he never can mow him down?
Poor little Road Runner never bothers anyone,
Just runnin' down the road's his idea of having fun.

I'd have to go with Foghorn Leghorn. He talked like the Dad of one of my friends. :o

They are great, one and all. I have to say that the smoooooothest one was Pepe Le Pew:
This little love bundle. Now she is seeking for us a trysting place. Touching, is it not? Come, my little peanut of brittle. Come wiz me to ze Casbah. We can make beautiful musics togezzer. (black cat with white paint stripe runs away) Ah, yes, she is playing ze hard to get. Rowr-rowr. Ka-pwing (prancing after the cat moving only the toes).
But I have to vote for Foghorn.
It sure, I say, it's sure quiet around here. You could hear a caterpillar sneaking across a moss bed in tennis shoes. Sneakers, that is.
Great stuff. Especially when Tex Avery was involved.

FYI, I had to vote for Mel. Without him my childhood would have been totally different. And each one of his characters was totally unique and endearing in their own way.

Thanks, Garry, for the walk down memory lane of hundreds of Saturday mornings and even at the theater before the movie started instead of those local dentist ads and "movie trivia jumble" slides.

Great thread!
