That is an outrageous price for Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They don't cost that much here in the US.

$2.70 US. I do like the donuts, but not that much
Our UK donuts normally cost $2.00 US for 6. They are like cement though!

A original glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut at $2.70 is a far better deal than petrol at any price.

That's crazy. Plus I don't think they age well. I only like them warm from the bakery and not from the grocery store. If you are getting them in your grocery store you must have a bakery somewhere reasonable near by.

This type of grocery store has an 'inhouse bakery'. Normally the baked goods are great, but not 'our' type of donut. The Kripy Kreams are delivered fresh every day from a local bakery.
But, as you say, they do have to be newly baked. Our favourite place to buy them is near Coco Beach, on A1A.
I may have to get a coffee in a go cup this morning and go the beach with my newspapers, husband and a fresh donut, I will be able to get a bank loan I think
