And that's where Jimmy met Tom Corcoran, who helped him write Fins, among other collaborations!
Legend has it that Tom Corcoran served JB his first beer at the Chart Room in KW.......true or not, JB did play there and it is a very unique place.

Another rumor is Jimmy actually first met his wife, Jane, there, too. If you have enough to drink you can actually picture JB playing his guitar in the corner and then passing the hat around......
Wish I knew the name of the bartender on duty when we visited. Definitely the most personable in KW.
Also, look closely at the bar. You'll see tiny brass plates with names of former patrons whose ashes are "enshrined" there for posterity! One is Phil Clark, JB's buddy for whom the song "A Pirate Looks at 40" was written....

I'll look for that. I haven't been in the Chart Room since my fifth wedding anniversary 17 years ago!
Last time I was in Key West (July '07), I met Tom Corcoran,

but he wasn't serving beer... He was doing a book reading and announced the name of his soon-to-be-published lastest book. Seems to me he confirmed that rumor. Someone asked him what he thought of Jimmy's book, "Salty Piece of Land," and he said he had it but hadn't gotten around to reading it yet.

Tom Corcoran is living part-time in Lakeland, FL and is collaborating with John Frinzi on some songs for John's next CD.
He may join us for the cruise next January, and do a book signing at sea!
