What Do You Think About During Corporate Meetings?
Today, like many days, I found myself in yet another meeting at work that, to put it mildly, was less than productive. If I hear about some issue requiring "traction" one more time I swear I'll take somebody down for good........ I'm happy that at age 55 I shouldn't have to endure this dribble for much longer, but now often find myself thinking of "interesting" things during these cosmic holes in my day.....
I constantly think about being on a beach in the islands or at a JB concert while strategically nodding and making notes (I've become quite good at this even if I say so myself....).
How do fellow BNers get through these exercises of "mental flossing" without causing bodily harm to co-workers???????

If you have never seen this website, take a look. Along the top bar, choose "demotivators".
I have a habit of writing these type things in my head during those meetings....I have actually purchased some of the demotivators and hung them at work.

I usually write fiction in my head and when it's appropriate to be taking notes I do, but not usually notes having much to do with the meeting.

You Play Bull$hit Bingo!
It is a great way to motivate folks to be pro-active and not have result-driven goals but rather have them think outside the box and be in the mind-set, or should I say client-focused - be available 24/7, have the core-competencies to re-visit, off-line - develop the best practice, . .
Let's touch base at the end of the day, re-group, status, to review benchmarks and standards. I'll keep you in the loop so that we stay on target, stick with the game plan, meet our timeline and move forward. I don't want to offer all 31 flavors when vanilla will suffice. The give-and-take is important as we move toward a solution. If you would set the bar high enough, you would be able to at least take care of the low hanging fruit. I hope that as we progress and see the light at the end of the tunnel, we can advance toward the new horizon.
We will continue to accomplish great things by leveraging the synergy that results when working together.
(Yeah. . I am in a lot of these meetings!)
Grab the bull by the horns, pass the baton and play!

This thread made me think of second wind....

In the middle of the second song
Dreamin' I was at sea, just my baby and me
when the words started coming out wrong."

I ask myself questions based on people in the meeting, for example:
"if I had to drive across the country with one person in this room who would I pick and why" .... "If I had to have a one nighter with one person in the room who and why".... "If I had to go on vacation for a week and had to pick one person in the room to come with me who would I pick and why" .... "which two people in the room would be most likely to hook up" this one is fun because I can get really extreme....
And as a rule, I can never pick the same person twice in one meeting...... The longer the meeting the more creative and risky the questions get.

After I make my Sales Numbers Speech, I start thinking about our Tee Time at the Club. Before then I am working on my speech, I keep it very short and sweet. I have been with this company 10 years and we have grown from 23 mil a year to last year 153 million, so I know my 6 Salesmen and myself are doing the job! They make it real easy for me, I am blessed to have a great team!
We only have the VP of the company speak after me so he wants to get to the Golf Course as bad as I do!
