Trop-Rock or Tropical Rock
I did a search but didn't really find anything about this on this web site. I never knew there was a genre of music called 'Trop-Rock'. It is based on JB's stylings but some seems good in its own right. You can Google trop-rock and get a lot or replies. If you are familiar with this genre, what bands are good (i.e., not JB wannabe's or just plain bad) and worthy of CD purchase? I like the idea of supporting a genre of music JB created and helping the new comers make it.

Re: Trop-Rock or Tropical Rock
Might I suggest listening to the Tropicast Radio Showcase???
http://www.tropicastrs.com
Also available on iTunes and Live 365. Good way to get an idea of the trop-rock bands out there. They have some really good stuff out there. One of my favorites right now is a song by the Coconut Boat Band called RUM IS A MANY BLENDERED THING.

Hell Yes..........And the Trop-Rock library grows on a regular basis!!
Go to Cdbaby.com and do a search for Trop-Rock. It'll pull up entire Cd's. You can sample each song for about 2 minutes and that'll give you an idea what to purchase. I list Gene Mitchell as my fave Trop-Rocker (Thanks winoIknow for that tip)! But I've got all 3 "Thongs In The Key of Life" Cd's which are excellent assorted artist Trop-Rock CD's which gives you more perspective on who you'd like!

Re: Trop-Rock or Tropical Rock
Cool site. I had found trop-rock.com but this one looks good too. And here I am a parrothead since '79 and never knew this existed. Sheesh.Staredge wrote:Might I suggest listening to the Tropicast Radio Showcase???

I use my iPod shuffle on my nightly walks. I have yet to hear any Jimmy on it (I'm sure I MUST have put a few songs on there...right?). Off the top of my head I'd say that at least 90% of the songs on there are from artists listed in this thread.

If they're not looking for Buffett wannabes wouldn't some of the above names be immediately disqualified since some of them are Buffett tribute artists?Joetown Parrothead wrote:Here are some great ones!
