What if part of the criteria was the 2 per year factor?

Great Woods
Chicago
Vegas

Anywhere else? I see Nissan has 2 this tour, is that normal?

The Major Championships, often referred to simply as "the majors", are the four most prestigious annual tournaments in professional golf. In order of their playing date the current majors are:

April - Masters Tournament (weekend ending 2nd Sunday in April) - hosted as an invitational by and played at Augusta National Golf Club
June - U.S. Open (weekend ending with the 3rd Sunday in June) - hosted by the USGA and played at various locations in the USA
July - The Open Championship (weekend containing the 3rd Friday in July) - hosted by the R&A and always played on a links course at various locations in the UK
August - PGA Championship (4th weekend after the Open Championship) - hosted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America and played at various locations in the USA

Based upon the term prestigious being for the "4 Golf Majors", I would think the Buffett equivalent would take into account the number of shows at a particular venue as well as the anticipation that a show at that particular venue generates. Having only been to Pine Knob & the Nati I can't judge a top 4. While everyone favors their "local" venue, some shows seem to generate a "buzz" from many pholks across the country.
I see the top 4 currently being in no particular order...........

1) Great Woods..Gets 2 dates...Are the unopphicial "End of Summer"
shows!!
2) Vegas....Again, gets 2 dates..Draws Nationwide....Consistant dates of
last 2 weekends in October...The "What happens in Vegas/at Buffett stays in Vegas/stays at Buffett News phrase seems to fit perfectly!!
3) Alpine..Always gets a Saturday Night...The sheer numbers on the lawn.
4) Cincy....The dawn to dusk tailgating is legendary...."Where it all began" should account for something!

My 2 cents. 8)

Great Woods is easily the Masters followed by Cincinnati, Jones Beach, and Alpine.
Jones Beach isn't every year!!!..I'd say Nissan or Hawaii

Maters....Greatwoods
US Open....Alpine
British Open....Nissan or Hawaii...maybe Vegas
PGA Championship...Cincy

The 5th Major or should be..The Tour Championship at Sawgrass....would be any of the British open venues

5. New York, NY 34
6. Irvine, CA 29

17. Los Angeles, CA 21
18. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 21
19. Las Vegas, NV 21
20. Nashville, TN 20

The top four have had at least 10 more shows than number 5.
Technically, only the Masters is held at the same venue each year. So, by tradition, put the Masters in Great Woods or Cincy.

The US Open--Rotates between Cincy--(if it's not the Masters pick), Alpine, Chicago and Indy
The PGA--Rotates between Great Woods (if it's not the Masters pick), Pittsburgh, Jones Beach, and Bristow, VA
The British (becomes the Western) and rotates between Vegas, California, and Red Rocks (why not)

and The Players Championship (for the elusive "Bubba" trophy and the right to wear a White Sport Coat) is rooted in the South- rotating between Frisco, Atlanta, Char-Raleigh, and Florida. On every sixth year, Miami Marine Stadium is dusted off for a return to Live By The Bay.

Oh, and while Cincy or Great Woods is redesigned to meet today's Masters' Standards, The Masters is relocated to BOISE temporarily

kinda of like the 1942 Rose Bowl was played at Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, NC due to WWII.

ok, if we are going to place a venue with one of the golf majors, here is my list....

Cincy=The Masters
---simply because this is where the madness began
Alpine=US Open---just from my experience, this seems to be always one of the most anticipated shows of the year
Great Woods=British Open---lots of tradition, jimmy always says how he loves playing there on labor day weekend
Vegas=PGA Champ---vegas also seems to be highly anticipated, and just like the pga, it's one of the final shows of the year

Alpine
Cinci
Chicago
DTE (even though he has not played this venue every tour, it is a major for me as it is where I saw Buffett for the first time this year, and considering it was a Tuesday night, it was a sellout.
I'm adding a fifth major, and that is Vegas.

Yeah . . . the venue where Jimmy Buffett proclaims . . . proudly proclaims annually (well . . . other than Gillette and Fenway) that "Great Woods wins BEST parking lot hands down . . . " HANDS DOWN PEOPLE! 8) is the easily the Major of all Majors without question. Not to mention that he parties more out on the Cape and Nantucket then anywhere else north of 10 degrees latitude. You all can argue about numbers 2, 3, and 4. Nothing beats Great Woods. It is just so obvious.

Who was the nob who said Orlando? Must be an old timer.
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

I concur.

4. Alpine Valley East Troy WI, I hear they are good shows (Never Been)
3. Jones Beach, because its a great venue and you can take a break and go for a swim (3 Times)
2. Great Woods
1. Great Woods, I would consider each Great Woods show a MAJOR.

I can't stand the MGM Grand Arena, but the pre-party that USED to happen in the pool area/backyard of the hotel was EPIC :P :pirate: :wench:

Naturally, I have to chime in with SAN DIEGO/Irvine (whichever stop he picks that year) 8)
We've been a sold-out venue for Jimmy for over 25 years, and he even put us in a song! :D
When the volcano blows, you don't hear him sing about landing in Cincinnati!! :o
Awww c'mon Brad...a west coast venue can't make the list. We're not real fans, remember?
