I saw George at the Beacon Theatre in NYC in November, 2005 for an HBO special. His comedy definitely wasn't as good as the old days, but it was still great to see him. Sail on George

So, I was 15 years old or so and wanted to rent Eddie Murphy Delirious and my Mom said, why don you get this one instead.
It was George Carlin stand up concert and the first thing he said was....Did you ever notice all of the women who are against abortion you wouldn’t want to F**k anyway.
Boy did she turn red!

I saw George at the Copley Hall in 1988, and when he dropped that abortion line,
there must have been a half-dozen women, and a few couples who stood up and walked right out!
I don't know what they thought they were going to hear that night, but it cracked me up
that at that time, even 20 years ago, people were still that naive and intolerant.
I guess they thought they were gonna see Gallagher

Got to work yesterday and neither of the younger ladies I work with knew who George Carlin was.

They were totally lost when clients and I discussed it.

Another women's issue, prostitution. I do not understand why prostitution is illegal. Why should prostitution be illegal. Selling is legal. f**** is legal. Why isn't selling f**** legal? You know, why should it be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away. I can't follow the logic on that at all. Of all the things you can do to a person, giving someone an orgasm is hardly the worst thing in the world. In the army they give you a medal for spraying napalm on people. Civilian life, you go to jail for giving someone an orgasm. Maybe I'm not supposed to understand it.

“I don't vote. Two reasons. First of all it's meaningless; this country was bought and sold a long time ago. The s*** they shovel around every 4 years *pfff* doesn't mean a f**** thing. Secondly, I believe if you vote, you have no right to complain. People like to twist that around – they say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain', but where's the logic in that? If you vote and you elect dishonest, incompetent people into office who screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem; you voted them in; you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who in fact did not even leave the house on election day, am in no way responsible for what these people have done and have every right to complain about the mess you created that I had nothing to do with.”

He passed while we were on our trip to Florida.
On the return trip, I kept making comments about getting IN the plane.

When this thread popped back up I thought "He died again???"
But yes, the world still misses his way of seeing past the crap that the rest of us take for granted as the way it is and therefore should be.
