The greyhounds will do a fine job keeping the bunnies away too. :D

Good for you guys for doing this. But as others have said here, I couldn't do it. I would get attached to them. Two weeks is way more than enough time for that to happen.
I think getting attached is the risk I'm going to have to bear. I'm sure there are limits on how many you could foster. We couldn't reasonably support more than 3 doggies at a time anyway, MAX. Two would be ideal.
Make sure you check the local laws regarding pets in house. In country where I live you cannot have more than 3 dogs registered to a house.

Eeegads! I can't imagine having 3 much less more than that!

I'd love to have a greyhound, just I'm the only one in the family

Can't wait to see pics of your new babies :D
Oh, I think we're AT LEAST a few weeks out. Gotta repair the fence at minimum. Plus, there is the hubby factor.

I ran a no kill dog rescue for three years, I love fostering and still have 4 fosters. I have fostered over 200 dogs and been attached to almost everyone, but the reason i can keep letting them go is if everyone adopts and stops fostering then no more dogs get saved. Or thats what i tell myself to keep letting them go. It's really not as hard as most people think as long as you know they go to a good home. I have kept in touch with many of my dogs.

I think your fostering then adopting is a great plan just don't fall in love with the first one. :D

Thanks Redneck.

Correcting myself: Slight typo. County, Not Country. Fairfax County VA does not allow more than three dogs per household.

We only have two.

No, I figured you meant 'county'. My comment was in regards to someone telling me how many dogs I can have in my own house.

Everyone needs at least 3 dogs. Real dogs, not them little yappy things either.

here there is only a limit if you in city limits and it's 7, other wise you can have as many as you want.

Mal! How wonderful for you and your family to help these dogs. :D

I work with a rescue here in Michigan....However I told them from the very first that I could not foster. 45 minutes in my possession and the animal would be mine forever  I cry at every adoption event. Sometimes from happiness at the pets finding a home...sometimes because I hate to see that animal go anywhere. :-?

I did sort of "foster" Attilla, a stray in my neighborhood. After finally catching him, I gve him to my mother in law. I cried like a baby all the way home fro Cleveland

However, I think you are made of tougher stuff than I am.....so I know you can do it!

Best of luck!

You have a good heart and this is a wonderful thing to share with your children, they will learn compassion and also learn how to let go when it's time to. And when you get to keep the perfect one, it will be a joyous event!

Our neighbors have a Greyhound, he is the funniest thing! His nickname is Bags, Bagsley...he is really shy around different dogs, VERY VERY happy dog...he races around the yard once in a while. But a big sweetheart. The family he lives with now used to have 2 little Boston Terriers. Now it is a big love bunny... Good luck!

Work on the hubby or see if you can trade him in

Good luck!

I have been fostering for about 2 years now....I used to do mainly unweaned puppies that were abandoned when i had more time to bottle feed but more recently older dogs....This has since changed however since our last "foster" we fell too much in love with and she is now part of the family :-)
