I just read on si.com that Kowher is out for the Jets job too.
ESPN is reporting it now too....and I also read the Browns are talking to Mangini about their coaching position...didn't expect to see him as a head coach again so soon as he's underachieved with the Jetsaeroparrot wrote:I just read on si.com that Kowher is out for the Jets job too.
Agreed. However, if you look at the history of the Jets, they have consistently under performed after Thanksgiving.C-Dawg wrote:ESPN is reporting it now too....and I also read the Browns are talking to Mangini about their coaching position...didn't expect to see him as a head coach again so soon as he's underachieved with the Jetsaeroparrot wrote:I just read on si.com that Kowher is out for the Jets job too.

Well, some coaches could be a fit for one team but may be for another.Bfan53again wrote:Don't you just love how pro coaches can be fired from one team after being branded a "loser" and immediately hired by another and called a "savior"........![]()
not sure!!!...but there are a lot of teams looking and more will be added....there isn't a huge list of coaches...so i think he does get a job!!....also a lot of teams won't pay big bucks for a coach....i can see him taking a job to prove himself!1aeroparrot wrote:TommyBahama wrote:If you look at Belichick his 1st time around wasn't all that great!!!...He turned out pretty good!!!.....Teams like those Belichick disciples...Hoping to catch lightning in a bottle!!....Same with Romeo...i'm sure he'll get some calls!!!
However, wasn't Belichick (sp???) not a head coach for about 5 or 6 years before he got his gig with the Pats?

He was the head coach of the Browns, but I don't remember how many years he was there. After Cleveland fired him, he came to the Jets when Parcells was the head coach. When Parcells left, the Jets named Belichek the new head coach, scheduled a press conference to make the announcement and just before the conference started Belichek gave them a handwritten note that said "I resign as HC of the NYJ." Classy guy.aeroparrot wrote:TommyBahama wrote:If you look at Belichick his 1st time around wasn't all that great!!!...He turned out pretty good!!!.....Teams like those Belichick disciples...Hoping to catch lightning in a bottle!!....Same with Romeo...i'm sure he'll get some calls!!!

Well, if you had a choice between Phillips or Shanahan, who would you go with?Left Field ParrotHead wrote:Heard 3 interesting things when Chris Mortenson was on ESPN radio this morning...
1. Mike Shanahan and Jerry Jones are friends. They even set up controlled scrimmages between the Broncos and the Cowboys as part of both teams training camp workouts.
2. The Broncos offered Tony Romo more money than the Cowboys. Shanahan thinks very highly of Romo and wanted to sign him as an undrafted free agent. Romo chose the Cowboys after considering the depth chart at QB. Better chance to play in Dallas. Shanahan and Romo both played QB at Eastern Illinois University.
3. Shanahan replaced Wade Phillips as head coach of the Broncos after the 1994 season.
It may be possible there is a "For Sale" sign on the Phillip's home in Dallas.

Yep. Me too. I'll miss him, but love what he gave this city, this state.MDown wrote:Excellent press conferences from both Shanahan and Bowlen today. I wish Mike the best, and thank him for the rings....
