Are there any good wide receivers in this draft?

Now that's funny...but the sad thing is, and every Lions fan knows this, we wouldn't be surprised if the Lions took a WR or a long snapper with the first pick. Hell, both are positions we could use upgrading in. I kid because I love.
Lions really need to start by drafting a franchise QB then build from there.
I think they had tried with Harrington. What they actually need is a franchise running back first and then get a QB that will manage the game and not screw up.
Didn't the Lions draft Kevin Smith from Central Florida last year? I don't think Harrington came out of a pro style system in college. That is the kind of guy Detroit needs to look for, copy what Baltimore did.

Don't think Harrington did either. I think it's probably better to get a QB through free agency since there is a track record of playing in the NFL.

Update: Cards 14, Eagles 6 with 5:45 left in the half. But the Cards are driving again......Eagles can't trade FGs with TDs.....

Larry Fitzgerald is an amazing receiver......how do you cover this guy???????

If the Eagles don't get constant pressure on Warner this game could get away from Philly very quickly........ :o

Make it 21 to 6, Eagles in a bit of trouble.

I think it's too risky to go QB with the #1 pick...especially seeing the track record the Lions have. Instead, they should go with a lineman and try and get tougher up front. Start the building there and then move to the skilled positions after.

a rumor I've heard is that the Pats put their Franchise tag on Matt Cassels for insurance if Brady isn't ready for next season, but if he is, they'd look to trade Cassel to either the Lions or 49ers, both who need franchise QB's and would be able to trade high draft picks for him.......will be interesting to see what happens

I've said before in this thread that I am a "casual" Ravens fan......I watch them solely because I tend to be a Baltimore supporter in most sports (OK, we're down to football and baseball, I know.....humor me). But I can respect other teams and players when they excel in their games, whether it's "my" team or not. And the fact that most of my family and co-workers are Steelers fans makes my life interesting to say the least......I was the only Ravens' fan last night in a house full of Pittsburgh supporters!

That said, first off, my congratulations to the Steelers. They beat Baltimore 3 times this season so there can be no doubt that, for this year, they are the better team. Period. All 3 games were real "old style" football and credit to both organizations. And no, the refs didn't "award" the AFC Championship to the Steelers, they simply took it away...... :o

After a 5-11 season in 2007 I'm sure that most Raven fans would have been happy for simply a winning 2008 campaign especially with a rookie head coach and, by default due to injuries and illness, a rookie QB. Unbelievably, after a 2-3 start, the team went on a roll that took them to whole way to the AFC Championship Game.....a real accomplishment. That roll was dependent primarily on the Ravens winning the turnover battle each week along the way. They lived by the turnover and, last night in the biggest game, they finally died by the turnover. Simple as that. The rookie QB finally played like a rookie......but the Steeler defense obviously had a lot to do with that!

I still feel that 2008 was a window of opportunity for the Ravens, just one of "those" seasons that came together so quickly for them. Then both the Pats and Colts were no longer in their playoff path. They beat Tennessee, but shouldn't have...... And all Ravens fans knew that the road to the Super Bowl would pass through Pittsburgh again. Pittsburgh has established itself as a perennial power with a winning tradition. Baltimore lacks that reputation.

Now that the season is done the Ravens must look to 2009 and ask a lot of tough questions:
> Is Flacco the real deal or will he suffer a sophomore slump?
> Is the offense finally becoming a force?
> Is the long-dominating defense getting too old?
> Will LBs Lewis, Suggs, and Scott be re-signed?
> Who will take the place of Coach Ryan as defensive co-ordinator when he takes the Jets' head coaching job? And how many more Ravens' coaches will he take with him?

Yes, this season was fun.....but, the question is can the Ravens as an organization continue to build on this success on a consistent basis going forward or will they look back at 2008 as that "one" lost opportunity?

Apparently, it is official that Rex Ryan is going to the Jets.
